    Default Commodore 64 help

I just got a commodore 64. I bought it from Isebela here. When I turn it on, it shows the blue screen, but doesn't say Commodore Basic V2. It just freezes. Inside the box were chips, but I opened it and the chips looked like they were in there and these were extra? Any idea?

maybe you have a bad chip in there. ive heard that some chips run pretty hot and fail after a while in the C64 (which is why i will probably make some heatsinks for my C64 later on)

I think the graphics chips are known to go bad. I'm pretty sure that's the one I had to swap out but it was years ago.

can anyone direct me where to go to get replacement chips? Will it be less of a hassle to just return this and buy another c64? I paid 95 bucks for it in box, in it was about 5 other chips but they don't look like they match up at all.

I'd say return it if possible.

Maybe one of the spares you have will happen to fix it.
