I remember a while back there were some people saying how bad it was. But have they fixed it? I wanna play PS2 games on my new tv with a PS3.

My friend has a PS3 and from what I understand it's a lot like the 360 where only certain games are bc.

This has been discussed elsewhere if you wanna look around a bit. It breaks down like this, though:
20 & 60 GB have 100% (they actually have the PS2 hardware)
80 GB are very good (play by emulation, which is working very well, I've actually not heard of any problems with it, but haven't looked, either)
40GB zip, zada, zilch, no ps2 support, and none planned. This goes for future PS3 releases as well, from what I've read.
they all play ps1 games well afaik
Kinda right kinda wrong.
20/60 GB PS3's are running about 90 - 95% BC (thanks to having the EE and the Graphics CPU in them.
80 GB systems only have a +/- 80% BC ability thanks to the emulation of the Emotion Engine chip, the Graphics CPU is still in these systems. Most of the compatability issues revolve around a loss of cutscenes and problems playing them.
40's don't do squat for PS2s.
