    Default Ninja Gaiden DS

A boatload of gameplay footage for the Ninja Gaiden DS from GameTrailers.

    Here are the links:

The combos and moves, as well as graphics, looks great and must have when it reaches US shores.

But my favorite is this one:

I like it showing how the stylus works with utilizing attacks, moves, and combos without D-pad and buttons, and, more importantly, the girl is really cute when she plays.

Which goes to prove, gamer chicks always rock!

The girl looks better than the game.

I'm not a big fan of stylus control-only games, but from what I've heard about this game, it works pretty well.

Not a big Ninja Gaiden fan, but I downloaded the demo from the DS Download station at Gamestop a month or so ago, and it actually played pretty well; it was very much like Phantom Hourglass, but more combo driven.

havent played the demo, but im a big ninja gaiden fan (even since the nes days!)

however, anyone else belives that this should not have been? Call of Duty 4, Assassins Creed and this, all do not belong on the DS.

NG for DS shouldve been a classic NES style side scroller in my opinion, kinda like the recent contra game.

    anyone else feel like this?

Any game belongs on any system provided it's well executed. Looks like Ninja Gaiden DS is.

well yes, obviously. my gripe is that they arent. as bastardizing the game into something is wasnt (AC,CoD4) in order to make a few extra bucks and port it over is not what i call "well executed".

    quite nitpicking my posts.

More variety in play styles = good. Touchscreen gaming will be a nice difference with the curren batch of stuff.

Although with my ham hands I shudder thinking about how badly my DS will get scratched up playing this...

This game has been getting great reviews. I was wondering if it would be any good with the pre-rendered backgrounds (I was thinking Resident Evil 1 control issues) but it doesn't seem that way at all.

its a great game so far, I am on chapter 4. So far so good, my only gripe is that only normal difficulty is available at first, and that seems kinda easy, but I will go back on a higher difficulty after. But the controls are nice. this game works and plays well. I was worried about the stylus, but they work well with this. And holding the ds on its side, not an issue. definately a 4 out of 5.

I picked this up today. I finished up to the end of chapter 4 so far, and I must say this game is all kinds of awesome. My main complaint about beat-em-up games is that they are far too slow paced, but Ninja Gaiden DS is blazingly fast. The fact that you can rack up 100+ hits in a matter of seconds really show this. I like how the storyline is presented with animated stills, much like the old NES games. I did have problems getting by hallways with spikes, though (they retract and come down very quickly). Any suggestions?

I had the same problem, and brother, in chapter 5 or 6, I forget which, they are back with a vengance...lol. they aren't bad but there is a part where there are more of them in one area, and they come up super fast. So far I have no clue as to the best approach, I tried watching the timing, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. the one bit of advice I can offer is to use your shurikens, to hit enemies on the stages where you have spikes comming up, don't go after them with your sword, especially when they usually hang out near the spikes :-)

Totally true. I think that game designers get caught up with keeping games in there traditional forms. When a game comes out with a similar concept, yet with a different way of play, you can get a winning combo. This game seems fairly entertaining, and might be worth picking up

Great game, but REALLY short. I started it earlier and finished it in 5:39. It was a bit on the easy side, as well. I'll replay it on Head Ninja at some point, but I have other games I want to play in the meantime.

yeah I just finished it last night 4:35, it was a bit easy, I unlocked head ninja mode as well, but for now, I will comeback to this at a later point. It is a good game, fun. It is long enough in my opinion, and add the extra difficulties adds to the replay value.
