Default PS3/360 Media Streaming and OSX

Hey everyone, just wanted to bring some info to my fellow Mac OSX users out there.

If you have a PS3 or Xbox 360 you know you can stream media (DIVX, XVID, etc) to the PS3 and 360 and watch it on your home tv and theater system.

Windows users use Media Player, Azerus, etc. What about us Mac users? Well, its easy. Nullriver developed MediaLink and Connect 360. This is a handy program that allows your PS3/360 to connect to your Mac and stream media to your PS3, and it allows the itunes library to be streamed as well.

It works great. I have it hooked up to my iMac in the back room over the WiFi network in my house and it works like a champ.

The software is made by NullRiver, they also make some sweet software for the iPhone too

Anyways, here is the link: http://www.nullriver.com/products/medialink

They also have a Connect 360 version as well. Both are $20. Not a bad price if you, uh hum, have stuff off the net you want to watch on your TV.

Just a good bit of info if you have a Mac!

that's pretty sweet. been looking at the Apple TV, but this and a wifi adapter for the 360 is tons cheaper.

I've got Connect360 set up on my iMac and it works pretty good. Only problem I have with it is sometimes the 360 can't find the connection to my computer and I'll have to re-search for it in the 360 dashboard to get the connection again. Might have something to do with my Mac's IP address being static.

Great app though. But I still prefer using my networked Xbox with XBMC.

I use Connect360 to stream music from iTunes (I haven't tried anything else), and it works fabulously. I definitely recommend it.

I have been using the software from NullRiver for a long time. For PS3, 360, and PSP. Really well made stuff.

I have an AppleTV. I wouldn't get rid of it for the world. I love it! Despite having the PS3 and 360 the AppleTV IMO is a valuable tool in my home. No streaming, backup to the computers iTunes, Rentals, instant itunes downloads, photos, etc are great... and its about 100x more quiet than the PS3/Xbox!

The reason i use my PS3/Xbox for media is simply bc of the XviD/DiVX support.

Although, if you are looking to save some cash (which my wife says I never try to do) the Connect 360 or Media Link is a sure fire way to do it, especially if you have the hardware already!
