    Default April 2008 Finds

Gamecube component cable was $20. Everything else was $14.93 on 25% off day at the thrift. I normally would pass on Action Bass for NES, but there is no NES game I could pass on for 60 cents.

Nice day at the flea market although the double parking cost is still in effect. Price per single standard spot is $30.00 now as well - crazy for the less than spendy crowd that shows up these days, which is mainly because of the same people dragging the same junk back and forth each week. Oh well.

From the guy I got the complete copy of Casino Kid II from a couple weeks ago I found six complete Sega Pico games. I swear, there's something about his spot that makes you overlook stuff. The Pico games were right at the front near his toy boxes, I looked right down at them for what must have been 20 seconds before walking inside to look at what games he had at the far end. On the way out I happened to look back at the toy stuff to see the Pico boxes. I went through them, stacked them up and looked over at him, before I could say anything he said $10.00 - which was what I was going to offer. All the games are complete in excellent shape, including the boxes. A couple of the boxes have the usual small tares where they were opened but nothing I couldn't repair. All the storyware is in top shape.

PICO - Adventures in Letter Land with Jack & Jill (complete)
PICO - Disney's Pocahontas Riverbend Adventures (complete)
PICO - Ecco Jr. and the Great Ocean Treasure Hunt! (complete)
PICO - Math Antics With Disney's 101 Dalmatians (complete)
PICO - Mickey's Blast Into the Past (complete)
    PICO - Pepe's Puzzles (complete)

Means I can add my loose copy of Ecco Jr. to the spare Pico system bundle I'm working on getting together. Regardless of what I thought until I had one myself and what many may say, I think the Pico is a wonderful system for the younger set and it's a shame it never was able to get solid footing. It's like a Touch & Tell that attaches to the TV.

A couple random pickups from different vendors. $1.00 TI-82 calculator, works fine. $2.50 ($3.00 each or two for $5.00 split with my uncle who bought another DVD) Super Speedway DVD, one of my favorite IMAX films. Ahh, the days just after the USA openwheel split, when CART was at its peak. Say what you will about the current reunification (although this year will suck for everyone) but I really wish it didn't look like Tony George is holding all the cards right now. Anyway, it's a great film with some onboard shots unheard of since the Lap of the Gods stuff in the late 1970's - NO CG.

A decent mix from my game selling friends, all for $2.00 each as usual and as usual it looks like he's just about tapped out. He did, however, finally have an alternate copy of Gradius to replace that beat to shit one I've been passing up. Also brought back out the Sega CD games and while there wasn't a whole lot in the area of good titles, the cases are all pristine. I bought two copies of Double Switch (not pictured) for the cases and junked the games and inserts, the cases now hold two of my PlayStation longbox games that had shattered cases. Also had his loose SCD games out which gave me a chance to pick up the complete pack-in copies of Sol-Feace and Sherlock Holmes / Sega Classics. Boxed games are totally complete / new with foam blocks.

SCD - Ecco the Dolphin (complete)
    SCD - Prize Fighter (complete)
    SCD - Racing Aces (complete)
SCD - Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective / Sega Classics Arcade Collection (complete)
    SCD - Sol-Feace (complete)
    NES - Airwolf
    NES - The Chessmaster
    NES - Gradius
    NES - Rollergames
    NES - Tecmo NBA Basketball

Also in the mail today a new pair of my signature green suede Pumas from a little skate shop in Hawaii that always gives me an awesome deal.

    THREAD RUINED.

    I was going to say something about finding ten sealed copies of Stadium Events, but what's the point now. ;_;

My finds, for real, were a new copy of Army Men Value Pack 2 (PC) and a used copy of the Warcraft II expansion.

While digging through some records at a thrift store I found this between stuff in the books section:

Never heard of the game before but looks promissing.

    Finds from today.

I didn't expect to find a Famicom in the wild but I picked it up at a thrift store today and the autographed AVGN DVD arrived today so that was pretty exciting.

That's supposed to be a great game. I really like the fart attack that glitches the game's pixels.

As I left for the flea market today, I picked up the town's free newspaper to read while on the way there. My horoscope said that April was going to be a very profitable month for me.

I have no idea if this is true or not... but it sure seems that way so far.

    First find of the day:

Shining Force II CIB - $3. The box is a bit beat up but it's still serviceable, woo.

After that I looked at several booths and found next to nothing. There's this one booth that always has weird stuff, mostly power supplies and A/V cables, and I saw this thing on a table.

    *blinks* O_o *dash dash*

Wow. The joystick is pretty much mint, but unfortunately, the second gamepad and the Joymouse adapter, whatever that was, were missing. But eh, not a bad find, and cheap too. This thing, just in case it's not clear... is a NeoGeo / SNES / Genesis / PC Engine arcade stick. The box also says it supports the Famicom but I have no idea if that's true or not. This thing was also in the box:

I basically got it for free, the people must've thought it was part of the set. Hell, I wasn't complaining.

I did more searching, and there was this booth that had some old comics for sale. Mostly Tales of the Teen Titans. I wanted to buy one but when I asked for a price, they said they were $1 a pop. I said "Hell no, later" and left. Jeez. Friggin' scammers... so uh, my usual haunts had nothing, so I changed my route, and found this at a booth that usually has tons of VHS tapes:

Aussie music, Wing Commander IV DVD version 2.0 (rare, expensive, and really cool - I had to sell my old copy and I want to play this one!), and that Claw game. I have no idea what it is, but it had an anthropomorphic PIRATE cat on the cover, so I hope it doesn't suck. It seems to be a classic styled platformer, at least judging from the screenies at MobyGames. This is a special version bundled with a Creative product - and that copy of Wing Commander IV was also a Creative bundle game, so that's probably why they were together.

On the way out I decided to go to that booth where I found the arcade stick and found these items:

Chronomaster and Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis, both new. I got 'em for $4. Chronomaster is worthless... but Indy? Eheheheheheh. Paydirt.

I also picked up this for $4:

Yet another Famiclone. I thought it was a Genesis clone but it has a 60-pin connector inside. Looked neat and it was $4 so what the hell.

Picked up a mint Commodore 64 Monitor and a vintag Pac Man poster for about $11.50. Man this monitor is sharp. I recomend this to anyone that wants a very awesome monitor for the more classic game systems.

Picked up a mint condition PSP System Kiosk disk for 6 bucks at a local second-hand store today:

The otherwise empty case had a Target return sticker on it along with some sort of orange UPC sticker. Lots of neat game demos, music videos and movie trailers packed onto this thing. It says disk #1 on it...anyone know how many there are, since it seems that I am now collecting them?
