Default Take turns with consoles or have them all hooked-up?

Do you guys have all your systems hooked up all the time or do you take turns playing them?

I usually have 3-4 hooked up and then put 1 or 2 away for a few months and then play the ones that were in closet. My NES and Genny are the 2 constants, they are always hooked up.

I have all my console hook up at the same time…

I like to have instant access to what ever I am in the mood for playing…

only ones I don't have constantly hooked up are my dreamcast and 7800/2600. Hell, I even have 2 genesis systems hooked up currently (one region modded with switch on the bottem that means I have to have another hooked up to play sega cd since hooking a sega cd to the region modded one would cover up the region switch).

Currently, everything except my CD-i is hooked up but I'm thinking that when I move in May I'm only going to have a few hooked up at a time. It gets to be too much cabling jumbled up in the back, even if I take the time to secure it nicely.

I have a switch box with all the AV wires connected, and just leave that there. The consoles, controllers, adapters and games are all in plastic drawers. Less to dust.

Lol why do I feel like we have already talked about this a week ago... oh yeah

To answer your question, I have all of mine in hook up distance so all I have to do is plug them in and I'm ready to go.

Any system I own that has games I actually want to play, I keep hooked up all the time. I find that I tend not to play games for a system if I have to hook it up first.

Systems that I just bought for collection's sake (APF M-1000, PC-FX, Gakken Compactboy, stuff like that) I leave boxed.

I've heard of a lot of poor locations for a region switch on a Genesis but without a doubt that one takes the taco. That's even worse than when someone installs one on the same side as the SCD connector.

You could be like this guy and build them all into one machine:

The case he's making for it is amazing. I need to find that link, though.

I have the capacity to have all 8 of my system hooked up, but I now only have 4 hooked up at one time with a smaller video selector. I just rotated between the 4, since I feel like 4 is more than enough at one time. Right now I'm doing a "last gen" thing with Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, and X-box hooked up.

Good question. Because I have a wire issue, I only have my PC & one console linked at a time. Each of my 12 (& counting) consoles are housed in full view on a slanting shelving rack without the wires which are put away into the drawer in seperate labelled plastic bags. Everything is kept very neat, how it should be.

Having wires all over your room isn't a good look. My games are housed in a CD/DVD mohogany storage unit with doors which holds upto 1000 items, My TV sits in a PC hideaway TV cabinet with doors. A good peice of furniture for drawing people into the game. I also have blackout curtains, dim lighting etc for atmosphere. Definately have all your consoles out on show, but put away the wires cos it looks shit.

I keep as many as possible hooked up, but not quite all of them. Generally, whatever gets played the most gets hooked up. Currently, all that isn't hooked up is my Atari 2600/7800, Turbografx 16, and my XBox. The XBox would be hooked up, but the DVD drive is crapping out.

I take turns with systems. I tried having them all hooked up at once but the wiring was an absolute nightmare. The only system that I have hooked up all the time is my PS2, so that when I wanna watch a DVD I don't have to go through the trouble of hooking it up.

I have far too many systems for it to be feasible to have them all connected at the same time. In fact I would have no idea to know how to begin such a project. Instead I have them all on shelves and connect them whenever I use them. The only exceptions to this are the Atari 5200, NES, Jaguar and Sega Genesis are all daisy chained. It's not that I play these more than the rest it's just a matter of how they ended up being placed near the TV so it was convenient.
The world has moved on and left me behind. Therefore I choose to retreat into the past.

I only have 2-3 hooked up at a time, simply due to not having the space to have them all setup in my desk area.

    Not feasible? Unpossible!

I have 26 hooked up & ready to go, along with SVHS, LD/DVD, Betamax, CED, CD players, and a turntable.

I take turns with some of systems. I always have these systems hooked up: Dreamcast, Gamecube, Ps1, PS 2, Nes, genesis, and Wii.

I take turns with my 7800, Sms, snes, and tg-16 systems. I have more systems then space.
