Default Gameboy Multicart only works on B&W GB Sys?

Hello all, I recently got a Long grey Super 82 in 1 Gameboy Multicart that only works on a B&W GB System. Has anyone ever had a GB Multi that doesnt play on the Color, Advance or SP? It comes up a bit but is missing most of the characters. They are all original Gameboy games on it but I dont know why they wouldnt play on a GBC or GBA? Normal US B&W Games play on GBC and GBA Systems.

Does it also play on a Game Boy Pocket, or just the "brick"?

It's been a while but I think I've seen a few that do that.

They don't even get as far as the menu ... the boot-up NINTENDO screen is just one solid black bar in the cases I can recall.

Open it up and clean the chip side good. If it plays on the brick, it should play on the others. It sounds like it's not getting a good contact. You might think on how it does connect, since you said is a long gray cart. Just a thought.

Hello, Yes it plays on the Pocket as well. I cleaned the Contacts well so I dont think its that. Tried it on many Colors, GBA, SP and it does the same thing. Boots up to the Nintendo Logo then to a blank screen. You can hit some buttons and an arrow will come up but the games list doesnt show. You can then choose a game ( not knowing what ) and it will come up. The game plays but would be missing many of the characters/colors. I think its just made to play in black and whit only for some reason. Mike : )

So that's a good and bad thing right? It would be nice to see it on a SP, understandable. What about through a super game boy on an SNES, possibly with a game genie, try other combinations.

Hello, Yes, it works on a Super GameBoy. I'm using a FC Twin though since its what I have hooked up right now at my store. Im sure it would work with a reg. SNES also. Mike : )

You know how the Game Boy Color (and GBA) can do that pseudo-coloration thing for specific cartridges that makes the sprites and the background show up as different colors? Perhaps this problem is related - maybe only the sprites are being colored but the background is not, or vice-versa.

There is a slight possibility this is the case if it's just the menu doing it.
If the menu is using a strange shading scheme then the GBC and GBA might be colorizing it all to the same color. I forget how to change the colors but it's something like holding select and a direction when you turn it on. The Super Gameboy colorizes games using a different method so that could be why it works on there.

Right, I thought I read something about that. Nice little list here (item 11).

Let me guess, it's a Sachen cart. I've got one of those. I forget the technical reason why, but I think there's some kind of copy protection Nintendo built into future models.

I have a "Super 68 in 1" which is one of those extremely long GB pirate carts. It doesn't work on my GBA SP but runs fine on my old B/W gameboy. I would test it on my GB Color if I could find the damn thing :-)

The case style, though long, unlike my 4-in-1 Sachen, is very similar. Do you have the packaging it came in?

This may be unimportant, but would likely just reaffirm the widely assumed belief that Sachen and pirates all over had something to do with each other in legitimate and illegitimate dealings.

Hello, No Original Packaging but it contains no Sachen games that I have played so far. Has a mix of American and Japanese games on it, most I have played before like Castlevania, Revenge of Gator Pinball ( but has different name ). All 82 appear to be different games. I play a game or 2 at a time. Pea Green non Backlit sucks. Mike : )
