Other than colour, is there a difference between the wheel that came with Excite Truck and that which comes with Mario Kart Wii?
I was going to pick up an extra Mario Kart wheel down the road, but not if I can just use an Excite Truck one.

No, but there was an Ubisoft wheel that came with a game (maybe two different games) at launch.
I don't know for sure, but I imagine it'd work just fine given that they're both just plastic shells. The trigger placement may be different though.
the ubisoft 1 came with 2 games, but it dosent ghave triggers.
I think he means Monster 4X4 and GT Pro, which both came with wheels.
Excitetruck didn't come with a wheel.
According to the picture on the Mario Kart box, the wheels look different. The MK wheel looks rounder on the edges to me.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
am i still under the impression that you can use gamecube/classic controlers with mario kart or was that another game?
None of that matters, its just a plastic shell for the Wiimote to sit in.
As long as the Ubisoft wheel has a button on the rear to press the Wii's trigger (The B button I believe), there's no reason I can see why it shouldn't work just fine.
Tricks are done with the d-pad when using a GameCube or Classic controller, you lose no functionality not using the motion controls. Or at least that's what I've been told, not speaking from first hand experience here.
Just when is this game supposed to be out? I haven't been quite sure, I see the ship date is tomorrow, with EB doing a midnight launch party. But I don't see a date for just when that is, is that tonight? If so, I should be able to find a copy of this tomorrow, right?

Pictures of the Mario Kart wheel have what appears to be a button on the rear that depresses the trigger. I won't have Mario Kart until tomorrow probably to confirm it, and I don't own the Ubisoft wheel or the Ubisoft racers, but I suspect it doesn't have it since the 3rd party Wii wheels I own don't, and most racers wouldn't have a need for anything except the 1 and 2 buttons on the front of the Wii remote.
I just got MK at the midnight launch and played for about an hour. I can tell you that the wheel is much much better than the Ubisoft one. First of all, the controller just fits better in it. Also, tactile feel is better.
This game blows double dash out of the water. THIS is what a MK game should be like. Also, I was skeptical of the online play but it works great. Lag is practically not there so far. Definitely worth the cash.
I got a wheel with MK and bought another for my wife (it was only 9 bucks - why not?)
It seems to work pretty well but my arms keep getting tired Do you have to hold it up or can you rest it on something?
Also, after playing this for a few hours, it's like man... just leave me alone with the items and let me drive!
