    Default May 2008 Finds

Ah, May Day! And the number of garage sales was simply insane. I probably went to between 50 and 100 today, when actually makes my haul pretty sad, as there was nothing all that great.

All adds up to $49.25 except the black GBASP w/ SMA2, which was actually from yesterday and I paid 30 for. Best deal was probably the $10 GBASP w/ a couple games and various useful doodads. Gears for $5 and Juarez for $3 wasn't bad, and couldn't say no to a $10 Genesis w/ 10 games, even if they are nothing special.

Stopped at a used game store on the way home, and saw a Master System package I couldn't say no to:

    2 SMS controllers
    MegaDrive SMS adapter
14 complete and mostly mint games, leaning heavily toward RPGs!

At 44.99, it was more than I like to spend in the wild, but worth it I think.

Then on the way home, I found a bare 360 power supply on the TV shelves at Goodwill. No console, controller, wall plug or price for that matter. I took it up to the counter and they charged me $1.99...sold!

I tried it out with my 360's wall plug, and the LED glowed yellow, but I am wary of hooking it up to my console. Can a bad supply fry the console? and can a standard 3-hole computer wall plug work safely with the 2-prong receptacle on this unit? I hope to use it when I want to move the 360. Good start to May!

Good deal, Atari 5200. Even better than my $50 Xbox deal off craigslist last summer, and you got some great games. Burnout Revenge is one of the best Xbox games IMO and worth it even if you hadn't gotten the others.

I got my hands on a few things today and earlier this week.

    Gamestop
Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon (PS2, complete) - $18.79
    Lethal Skies II (PS2, complete) - $5.49
    Dropship (PS2, complete) - free
Smash Court Tennis 2 case insert and manual - free (The store didn't have the game so they were about to toss them out!)

    Toys R Us
E-Vex Video Goggles (new, yeah I know they were technically bought in April, but they might get returned in May if I can't find out whether they actually work or not.) - $109.00
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2, new) - $11.99
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Today turned out better than I thought, and I only went to one Goodwill and a couple meager garage sales. The good will had a loose SNES Spanky's Quest (R5) that I only picked up because it wasn't one of the other 8 games that were all sports (and lame ones, to boot). Also picked up a Power Joy Voyager at the GW, only because it was $1.99 and so clearly a Game Boy rip-off. I had no idea that it is actually a very cool little NES clone. There's a good write-up of it here.

As I've mentioned in some other threads, I feel that Spanky's Quest is one of the most overlooked SNES games out there. Be sure to give it a try sometime.

Went back to where I got the SNES games yesterday to see if I could pick up the rest for 1/2 off. Only 3 games left but I picked them all up for $1.50 each.

    Super Battletank
    Lion King
    Aladdin

Also found Zelda Oracle of Ages for $2

    All games were cart only.

Graaaaarrrrrghhhfp! Why can't everyone have generally good taste in games like this. Really, there isn't a truly terrible or worthless game in that whole lot! Well, maybe two or three, but usually you see more like 90% being crap. Great pickup!

I was at the gianormous flea market in Canton, TX today

I know Caton's a large, famous flea market but there were next to no games!!!!! I was lucky to find what I did. Everything else was overpriced antique stuff. The last time I was in Canton I found a boxed NES system for $25. I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough today.
    /end rant

Anyway, I managed to find a cool Mario Bros. warp pipe phone for $3, and a Mrs. Pac-Man wind-up toy for $1. I think the "Mister Music Maker" keyboard I found is video game-ish, it is a toy analogue keyboard and it sounds like an Atari with all of it's bleeps and bloops, it was $1.

I also got a copy of King's Quest V and a dos game called "stalker" for $0.25 each, as well as a dusty old NES zapper for $1. I was kinda mad because I missed some NES games, this guy has a huge booth with lots of signs that said "everything's a dollar", the stuff was just junk stuff, not that cheap chinese crap you see for $1 each. That's where I got the zapper. The guy there told me he had 3 big boxes of Nintendo controllers and games for $1 each and he sold them all rather quickly. At an antique market. Antique buyers must love NES games.
Check my auctions here! I am in the business of finding off-beat things, including video game stuff!

    Canton does stink for games.

One time I got X-com UFO defense pc complete in box $1

the other time 2 coleco telstar systems boxed $2.50 each

that was it though for 2 hot long days of looking
