Glitchy Mega Man 3

Today at the flea market I got 6 games, one of them being Mega Man 3. I started playing it as soon as I got home. But it was so glitchy. On the title screen the picture of Mega Man doesn't even appear, and the game freezes up really quickly. I cleaned the cartridge with Windex (the game was extremely dirty, I used like 8 q-tips). It runs now but it slows down alot. What should I do?

Use alcohol, not Windex?

NEVER use windex. It will leave a film of soap over the game. That's bad, mmkay?

Open up the cart, get a white eraser and use it to clean the contacts, then use a part alcohol/part water combo to pick up what was left behind. I got some pretty cruddy looking games from Gamestop during their liquidation sale and the white eraser did wonders.

As to the confusion of why I was using Windex, I looked up "nes cleaning" on Google and followed the first link.

I haven't cleaned cartridges in 15 years, be easy on me lol!

I have this same problem with Secret of Evermore. I've cleaned the thing to death, and no matter what, it glitches out at the choose your file screen. I may try opening the cart.
