I love these threads. The Finds thread is the first one I check, and Joe's daily thread is also one that I never miss. There is a trick to it, though. In the Finds thread, for instance, the best posts have pictures or a story, or both. Joe's thread is so cool because he's gone through the work of wading through what I imagine are huge piles of junk to pick out the 4-5 most worthwhile items/collections.

To be blunt, a list of every POS game that came in to your store is boring as hell!

    Too harsh, or useful feedback?

I'll agree, if it's not too much trouble it would be more interesting if you weeded out the junk and just posted the good stuff. It doesn't have to be big money every day, it could just be something you find interesting or maybe a hot seller. Whatever you feel like really, but a list of 20+ games probably won't draw a lot of attention.

    A story then:

Today a group of truant high school kids came into the store, wanting to buy some Microsoft Points.

    We were sold out.

They asked me where they could get some, and I directed them to the EB Games up the street.

About 10 minutes later, they come running in huffing and puffing and say:
"EB only has 1 card left and we are $2.00 short, can we borrow some money?"

looking them directly in the eyes :

    "absolutely not"

    And they sulk away slowly.

    Fail.

Not a bad story, but it would have been an even better ending had you said this: EPIC FAIL

I like the story very much as is. It leaves me wondering about the 1 in a million chance that one of those kids is a future Bill Gates, who just might have remembered the cool game store guy who loaned him 2 bucks way back when. You might have just missed your chance at a windfall!!! Of course, I would have done exactly the same thing you did. How bizarre that they'd even ask, though.

Looking forward to the next update!

Good chunk of trades today, but nothing noteworthy, except this one guy:

This is what he traded in :

    Xbox 360 CONSOLE - XB360 - 20GB (Used)
Xbox 360 Perfect Dark Zero (Regular)
    Xbox 360 Forza Motorsport 2
Xbox 360 Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate

And this is what he purchased :

    CONSOLE - N64 w/ 1 Controller
    N64 - Controller
    N64 - Memory Card
    N64 - Banjo-Tooie
    N64 - Banjo-Kazooie
N64 - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, The
    N64 - Turok Dinosaur Hunter
    N64 - South Park
    N64 - Jet Force Gemini
    N64 - Super Mario 64
    N64 - Bomberman 64

Interesting generation flip. This kid was about 13 and his mom had purchased him the 360 about 2 months ago.

And yes, I checked to make sure there was no RROD or defects on the system.

    Crazy kids these days.

ha, that's great. I wasn't too surprised until you said he was 13. I'd think the 64 love would be lost on someone that age. Looks like he traded in crappy games for some great ones though.

Agreed. Very strange for a 13 year old. But then, I just had a young dad w/ a ~8 year old here to buy a couple NES controllers off me. The dad said he'd gotten his kid hooked on the classics. So, the fact is, good games are good games, and even million dollar ad campaigns won't work on every kid.

I really dig the 'what he purchased' segment. I think that could be an interesting addition to this sort of thread, though that might just be because this particular case was pretty bizarre.

Had a landlady who's tenant skipped town and rent trade in all the games she found in there house today.

Highlights being Faria for the NES and Shining Force CD, and few other AAA games they left behind (Final Fantasy III DS,Advance Wars: Days of Ruin,Advance Wars: Dual Strike)
