Default Repairing and Arcade Power Stick 2 [GENESIS]

    Hi!

I've recently unpacked my old arcade power stick 2 for the genesis (megadrive) in order to play some SF'2 SCE. And to my surprise the joystick was working poorly.

It's really unresponsive and I need to press it really hard in order to make it work.

Any tips on how to make it work like new?

    Thanks allot!

I have the same, broken arcade stick. My problem seems to stem from the cord coming undone from the base of the stick. I plan on tearing it open to fix/convert to usb at some point in the future, which might also teach me how to solder, but so far I've been far to lazy to do so. As cool as joysticks are, I've always been a d-pad man...

I don't know the answer to this question, but learn to solder before trying it on good equipment like this stick.

I will have to know what I'm doing before poking around. The problem is, as I didn't elaborate on, I'm kind of at a loss as to what to practice on to learn to solder. I don't really want to buy one of those radio kits, if they still make them. I was thinking of maybe replacing the battery in my copy of NHL '94, but that's the only genesis game my boo had that I didn't, and her battery works (for now.) The power stick 2 is my next likely choice. I've held onto it since getting it for xmas many moons ago, but I only recently rescued it from my parent's house. I thought they threw it away. One time when I was younger, I went to bed with a stomach ache, only to awake in the night, lean over the edge of the bed, and spew all over the poor joystick. For sentimental reasons, my love of the genesis, I can't sell the thing. But I also, kind of, want it to work... Boo.

just get an old phone or some junk electronics and remove and attach stuff to it. No harm if you mess things up either.
