Default XBOX 360 - Faint white lines appearing over HDMI

So, I sent my 360 to Microsoft in March due to a RRoD. I received a replacement unit sometime in April. Since then, I have noticed faint white vertical lines appearing, mostly on dark backgrounds. I'm connected via HDMI to a Samsung HP-T5044 plasma panel. This problem never occurred until I got my replacement from Microsoft. I don't have anything else to connect to the tv via HDMI, but all of my other inputs are line-free.

Is the GPU damaged or what? Anyone else have a similar problem?

Mine's has a faint line that moves from left to right in 1080i. It appears on white backgrounds. I did reasearch and they said it was the tv. Mines was a tube. It was connected via component.

Yeah, I've got light rolling diagonal lines on my LCD tv too. Got my 360 hooked up via component (1080i) and it's only visible when it's a dark picture and I'm standing less than 5 feet from the tv.

Don't know what the problem is, but I always figured it was a problem with the tv. It's a shitty Vizio, so that's most likely the case.

Since HDMI is purely digital, I would guess it would be a bad TV, but unless you have another HDMI device it would be hard to test.

Out of curiosity, was the broken 360 you sent in an HDMI model, or did they give you a free upgrade?

Yes, it was an elite, and was always connected via HDMI. It never made such lines, which leads me to think it is a problem with the console.

You replaced the video encoder on your XB360?

I think the newest ones are BGA (ball grid array) and cannot be soldered by conventional means, and require infra red heating and specialized equipment.
