xbox 360 faceplate question

My 360 is just white. No face plate, no colours, nothing.

So, I think I want to buy a faceplate. I really like the wood grain one.

Question - when something like the wood grain faceplate is attached, does it look like crap? I'm thinking it would since it would just be wood grain in the front and then you'd see the white console behind it.

Where my 360 is situate, you can see both the front and a little of the top, so I think it'd be pretty noticeable. Is there any way to fix or avoid this?

edit: I've attached an image of what I'm trying to avoid. See how the white top sticks out like a sore thumb?

you can get console skins. they cover the sides and existing faceplate.

i have a silver faceplate on my 360 (to match my receiver) and from a distance you can't really tell that it's different that the top.

Depends on the angle of the entertainment center and where the 360 is. Plus if you keep your console vertical or horizontal.

Just don't put something on TOP to cover it - there's ventilation holes there for crying out loud.

I had a Halo faceplate on my 360 for a while.... that is until I broke it when I tried to sync a new wireless controller.

I thought it looked just fine to me, I didn't really care a ton that you could see the white on the top/sides all that much. It's really a personal preference kinda thing.

Well when I painted mine I kept the white console in mind. I think the image pops because the rest of the "canvas" is white.

With my setup you cant really see the rest so It doesn't matter. But i think keeping it white like the person above me is a good idea.

the only faceplate that looks ok on the 360 to me is the E3 05 faceplate (one of like 5000) of which I am proudly an owner. THe others look kind of funny. Paint or a skin would be best

Good idea too. Just find (or in your case make) one that compliments the white.

I notice that Pelican makes cheap faceplates. Am I correct in assuming these suck?

Quality wise, it doesn't really matter. Even microsoft has pelican make some of their LE faceplates.

I'm taking this advice about 8 months after the fact. I found a gameface and refill kits at blockbuster for $0.99 and $1.99 respectively. I tried making my own faceplate and it turned out like crap.

Firstly, you have to remove the plastic backing, and when I did remove it, it broke a little plastic hinge for the power button. I super glued it and it seems fine now, but it's still a pain in the ass. Secondly, the little hinged doors are green/grey. It looks like hell.

I ended up collecting a bunch of faceplates off ebay/DP people - I rotate them when I get bored. I never did anything with the sides though...

I had the woodgrain plate when I had my 360 and I really thought (still do) that it looked very nice. I am all for the woodgrain I suppose

Ooh, I have one of these! I haven't tried it out yet, but I did find a good Photoshop template for it.

Yeah, i can only do the white background faceplates. Otherwise they look like crap. At one point, microsoft considered making the top and bottom removable, but the costs of a faceplate and top and bottom plates were too high.

Whoa that looks bitchin'. I gave up on that stupid gameface crap. I bought the wood faceplate awhile ago for like a buck. I've returned to it (I actually quite like it)
