Default sound problem with headphones for night gameing

I do alot of night gameing and i'm constantly assulted by my gf asking me to "turn it down" which really means "mute it"

so to solve the problem i bought some wireless headphones today. i didn't want any fancy $200 ones, just something that worked. i'm not really an audiophile.

so i went to radio shack and ended up buying these

anyways heres the problem. i hooked them up though RCA composite (only option) and they worked fine for the TV. problem is they don't seem to work for anything hooked up though anything other then composite sterio.

so all my systems hooked up through composite or S-video sound fine but if its hooked up through componant i get nothing at all. (via the headphones)

my my PS3 is hooked up via HDMI and i get low and pretty garbled sound through that. (via the headphones)

am i missing something or is this set just non compatable with anything connecting to my TV through componant and HDMI? is there a cheap workaround? if i want full compatability no hassle problems am i acually going to need those $200 wireless sets?

i don't have a sound system or any kind of ampliphire (no room)

everything is either directly hooked up to the TV or hooked up via a pelican pro selector box. the HDMI i can maybe understand cause its digital and maybe that screws something up (even though it works fine with the tv thats recieving a show digitally) the compoant i'm stumped since its still useing rca sterio connectors for sound.

Sounds like a problem, or design flaw, with your TV.
