Default Spore Creature Creator Released Today

So im a little surprised but no one has mentioned that as of 12:00 midnight the spore creature creator is available for download. I actually found out 45 minutes prior to it going live took me a second to realize that june 17th was only minutes away. Then it took me a few minutes to realize that ea's site wasnt updating all that quickly. Googled for it and had it installed before half past 12 which isnt too bad for the first taste of the most hyped game EVER. Anyway its pretty fun to mess around with i created a few creatures with it so far.

The original Sim City was one of my most favorite games ever - loads of fun to play around with and watch your city grow. This was, of course, back when Maxis was its own entity.

I recently got Sim City DS and started playing it...it's so little fun. There's far too much detail added - not only do I zone "industrial," but I have to decide what TYPE of industrial. Trains have to have stations...the isometric view is crap...there are no randomly generated maps, it doesn't look like...

Will Wright has some moments of genius, but I have a sneaking suspicion that these days his evil overlords tend to ratchet them down and smother them. I expect too much detail like Sim City DS to kill Spore, at least for my enjoyment.

I had so much fun with the free trial, I went out and bought the full version of the creature creator.

This game looks to have a lot of potential based off of this tool alone, but I would have liked to see some alternative methods for how a creature and sustain itself. As of now, it looks like Omni/Herb/Carnivore are the only options. And a mouth is required for the creature to survive. Don't know if ears/nose/eyes are required.

It'd be really cool to recreate the Sylandro from Star Control!

I'm now officially anticipating this game.

Actually I thought about posting it since the trial already "leaked" a couple of days before the official release, but I wasn't sure if that's illegal or not, so I didn't post

Anyway, I also was stupid enough to buy the full version (€10 for a demo and EA's crappy service where you would have to pay extra if you wanted to be able to download the game again in the future), but I really enjoy messing around with it. Since I'm also modeling/texturing/rigging/animating in Maya I really wonder why there aren't easier ways to do things like that in "real" 3D software packages.

However, I still fear that the actual game might not live up to its hype. The editors alone will be worth buying it, that's something I'm sure of. But we'll have to see if it's also fun to play.

Trial version only has about 25% of the available parts for creature creation.

It's pretty lame that EA's Sporepedia won't allow you to upload 'adult' creations.

I'm going to create an alternative Sporepedia that is fully uncensored.
