Talking Final Fantasy IV Remake for Nintendo DS

Anyone play this yet? I for one will be picking this up tomorrow. Circuit City seems to have the best deal, as they are giving away a $10 gift card when you purchase the game.

I love the graphics and mapping system with the DS. Sad that the extra dungeon and Party Customization at the end of the game had been removed from the GBA version, but this looks too sweet, so it makes up for it.

    Impressions?

AHHA!!! This is what I wanted!

I knew there was a game coming out around the 22nd that I wanted but for the life of me couldn't remember which one.

Great! Thanks! I'll pick this up tomorrow. I'll check if anywhere local has any added bonus/discount

I will be picking this up Wednesday, I am very excited for it, I've been waiting for this for a long time. I haven't played FF IV since it was originally released for the SNES. So I think the story will seem pretty fresh for me when I pick up the remake.

Meh...honestly I'll be sticking with the original version if I so choose to play it again. I never could and still cannot stand the 3d remakes of these games. I played 5-6 hours into FFIII DS and it felt like a chore the whole way, did not keep me interested in the least. And I loved the original FFIII(J).
Yes, unfortunately for me I think the slickest looking part about FFIV would have to be the box art:

I'm 10 hours in, and only at the Tower of Zot. The battles are a lot harder then the original game, most enemies have new attacks, and lots more HP. I'm having a great time so far.

Aww, dammit! I LOVE FFIV, but I don't own a DS and I hate playing handhelds!

I don't think I'll get it, if only because I just picked up FF IV Advance last weekend... Unless it's really quite different (aside from the graphics, of course)

FF4 DS sure is hard. I've started twice and got game over twice. Damn enemies that can turn you to stone and ambush you.. I'm going to remember to save when I get out of the castle next time I attempt to start this one up again..

I started playing this earlier today and just beat the Octomammoth so far. I'm liking this remake better than FF III. The graphics overall are better, and the voice acting is actually good, which was a nice surprise. I'm not finding it very difficult at all so far, but maybe that's because I'm so used to the HardType version.

I hear FF IV is FAT HATS. But thats just what i've heard.

    Oh and fix your signature!

I'll get this in the not too distant future, but I can almost guarantee that this is going to sit like every other SquareEnix DS game that i've got (which is all US releases), which will be sealed and unplayed.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Ditto. 3D polygons look nasty on the DS. I played FFIII for about the same time and it bothered me so much I put it down.

Who'd have thought an FF game could be hard?

I will be buying this because I loved the FFIII remake quite a bit. I think IV is a better game than III all around mostly IMO, so I'll be headed to Circuit City at lunch time.

Once I'm done with Crisis Core, this is my next Gamefly rental.

It looks good, I really enjoyed FFIII DS.

I'm forcing myself to finish FFIII DS before I pick this one up. I'm about 90% of the way through (that is a lot of grinding, let me tell you).

After reading how difficult this new DS version is...I'm wondering if the last boss is now completely impossible. In the history of RPG's, I've never had so much trouble with an end boss than I did with Zeromus (FF Chronicles version of FFIV). I've permently memorized every enemy in that last dungeon. I spent about 10 hours in there leveling up just to have a chance at good ol' Zero. Finally beat him, but I've never gone back. Even when I played through the GBA version, I stopped at the beginning of the last dungeon. There was no way I was going to grind another 10+ hours to defeat one guy. I did it once, that was good enough.

It'd be neat if it did something special if you had the DS FFIV in the DS slot and the GBA FFIV in the GBA slot. For awhile a lot of DS games did this, why don't more? I love cool unlockables.

I don't really know what it could do though - probably something lame like a music player?

Heh heh, FF3 DS was pretty hard too but I think this one might be harder. The Mt. Hobs boss just destroyed me.

I picked this up last week. I just got Yang in my party. I had played it until I got the Auto-Potion augment, used it on Cecil and read in a strat guide that its best to give it to Polom/Parom because of some benefit they give you.

I dunno, the whole augment system seems like a pain in the ass.

I'm digging the game otherwise though.

What do others think of the augment system?

    *** POSSIBLE SPOILERS ***

I need some help. I'm not really used to this whole augment thing and I've run into a problem.

I'm just about to start up Mt. Ordeals. I've got Palom and Porom. I've given the Counter augment to Cecil and the Auto-Potion augment to Porom. I missed the Item Lore one in Kaipo (I forgot to grab it!).

Is there any way I can get back to Kaipo before Palom and Porom "leave the party"? I know that before entering Baron again I can make my way to Myst - is it possible to get from Myst to Kaipo at this point in the game? I really want to given Item Lore to Palom because I've read you get a great augment in return.

    Help!

edit: It looks like I may be screwed. Damn. I'll have to restart it (only about 6 hours in). That's not my GameFAQs thread btw, I just checked their forum.
