1964~ can we talk a little about this emu? if not just say so~
Jet~
I never heard of this. What's it all about, Jet?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
It's an N64 emulator, so this might be an off limit topic. I know asking for N64 roms is a BIG no-no, but I don't know if talking about the emulators is or not.
FYI. Jet, usually anything newer than SNES is frowned upon as a topic for in here, but I'm sure Zektor will let you know if talking about the 1964 emulator is ok or not. Just happened to be passing by and thought I'd let you know.
If you wanna talk about anything SNES or older, come back and we'll talk
well, thats why I asked first don't want to cause any trouble~
:skull: <=Cool icon!
Emulator talk is not illegal, nor is talking about how well/not well a n64 emu performs. Just the rom situation is different. I myself like Project64 the best, since it runs half of just about everything at full speed...
Ok, since we got the green light, that's about what I was going to say.
Of course my system is starting to show it's age but I'm having much better luck with Project64 than anything else. Some of those N64 games look damn good on the PC. I never can understand why everything has the "Penthouse" (ie soft focus) look when it's playing on the machine it was designed to play on.
It's funny how the games can look so much better than the system ever did. RR64 for example looks a ton better on the PC. Getting the controls to feel right are another issue!
Off Topic for Capt Wrong: Got the cd's and made your copies. I'm shipping Monday morn man.
hi Zektor,
hey do you know a link where I can find Project64? The 1964 one
just crashes all the time. It looks strange also, like half the textures
aremissing from the zelda game.. really looks like crap..
I knew you guys would know where a good one was! :P
Im going to try to have this all together before Thursday for Mike
when he gets home..! I know he will love it
thanks again~
Jet~
@ Zektor, thanks a ton man.
@ Jet, try here http://www.pj64.net/ I don't know how much you've been in the emu scene, but I'd also like to give you the link for Zophar's Domain http://www.zophar.net/index.phtml It's kind of a one stop shopping site. Enjoy!
YES!
this is great Captain Wrong! Thanks for the links!!!!
Jet~ :P
I just tried it and it works "GREAT!!!!"
thank you! Thank you! Thank you~
Jet~ :rocol:
Project64 is probably the best there is thus far. Very compatible, but still no sound support in Robotron 64 Oh well, can't have it all I guess...at least the emulation on most of the other games is right on par.
@ Jet, *tips hat* Glad I could be of service.
It's quite impressive to see how good N64 emulation has gotten and how fast it has gotten there. I never really checked it out until recently because I just assumed it couldn't be done that well. Since then, I've been checking out all the games I own in Project 64 just in disbelief over how good they look on the PC. Big ups to the emulator people. Most impressive work.
I remember how much of a stink N64 emulation caused when it came out. I remember that N64 emulator coming out right when the ZSnes and MAME were really turning heads. I forgot it's name but I remember it came out a month after Zeldaot and after that the emulation scene changed and every company went on the defensive agenst roms like the next day.

thanks Captain Wrong, I can't believe how well this works! I have
been playing games sense the first atari came out, and between Mike
and I, I bet we have over a thousand games. Most of them are in
boxes, but you never know when you might want to play them
again. Point is, I see nothing wrong with grabbing a Rom if you
own the game already. And I think we have about every N64 game
out there. I just recently started collecting PS2 games, and I love
almost every game we have bought. The thing about the PS2 is
you can run it through your pc already, so finding a way to do it
with N64 is just Awesome
thanks again, !

@Jet, you're described the exact reason I got into emulation too! It's such a pain to have to drag stuff out of the closet, hook it all up, find the game in the collection, make sure everything is working properly, etc., etc. And if you're like me, you might bounce from N64 to a Genesis game to Colecovision and that's just more stuff you gotta set up and put away.
Though I still want to actually play stuff on the TV with the correct controller from time to time, I usually don't have time for all the other stuff (getting out, putting away, etc.) associated with it. It's so nice to just plop down in front of the computer and have everything ready and waiting. And I don't have to put my toys up when I'm done playing
Captain, I do my emulation on my laptop, which has a TV output and I use a Gravis GamePad Pro USB controller... which looks almost exactly like the original PSX controller... Look and feel of consoles, and my laptop can run everything at pretty decent speeds, including ePSXE... It's nice to have one machine to play all the old classic consoles, and still have the look and feel of playing a console.. The only disconcerting thing is the Genesis emulation, since the pad I use doesn't have 3 buttons side-by-side for A B and C.. Other than that, though, I love the setup.
I tried N64 emulation once, but it was early on in the scene and the emu's weren't very good... not a lot of support. If all that's changed, I should try it again.
