    Default RetroDuo NES sound issues

Hello! This is my first post and I was hoping someone could help me out.

I just bought a RetroDuo and am very impressed with the picture quality of all my NES games (I had a GN Twin earlier, and the color on the TV screen was hideous).

The sound is another matter. I've plugged in the A/V RCA cables into one my TVs inputs, and the sound is terrible for most of my games. This is especially pronounced for Ninja Gaiden. I understand that the Retro Duo has stereo sound, and that I need mono sound for most of the NES games to sound allright. I've fiddled with all of my TVs sound settings to try to get mono sound, but it's not helping. I've seen on the forums here, that there is a splitter that can convert stereo to mono.

Can anyone tell me where I can find one of these cables (Best Buy, Radio Shack, Vintage Stock, Game X Change, etc.)? What are they called, so I know what to ask for? Will this solve the sound problems? I'm pretty clueless about all this, so please, if possible, post an image of what the setup should look like.

    Thanks

    Hello
First of all, welcome to the DP forums!...You'll have a great time around here...
Now, Your question probably belongs to the "Technical and Restoration" forum..

If I can recall well, the Retro Duo NES side outputs mono sound from boths Audio RCA jacks, there is no improvement is you are trying to mix them with "Y" splitter cables....But if you want to try this for yourself you can find them on the bay or your local Radio Sack.....Only the Retro Duo SNES side outputs true Mono/Stereo sound individually.

There is no way that it is in true stereo. The games themselves aren't encoded in stereo so what your getting is dual mono. If i had to guess, your chips are fried or its a bad pretendo.

SNES games are encoded in stereo sound.....In some cases, you have the access the control menu to change the sound settings, while in others don't,......The Retro Duo divides the audio channels as well..

Here is the pic of the cable I use for NES audio. Attach it to the RetroDuo itself. Here is why you would want to use this cable when playing the NES side of the RD. As noted it's only useful on the NES side of the RD, the SNES side outputs true SNES stereo sound.

Here is the cable at Radioshack.
