Default Eliminating noise from a stereo-modded NES

Following this guide, I recently modded one of my NESes to output in stereo sound. When I hook it up to my TV through the built-in jacks, the sound is great, but just a little bit soft so I have to turn up the TV louder than for a regular Nintendo, but this is not really the problem. When I tried hooking the NES up to a stereo deck that I use with a different TV, the game sound was barely audible over a lot of fuzz. I thought maybe something got jerked around when I moved the NES, so I opened it back up, checked everything out, closed it and hooked it back up to my first TV and again, everything was fine. Tried the stereo again, and nothing but noise.

Do I need extra shielding or something, or why would this sound just fine through my TV but not a regular stereo system?

Just swapped out my romex ground for a piece of bare, heavy florist's wire and the sound is clean as a whistle. Must have just not been getting a good connection with the old ground. Thanks for suggesting that as the problem though, I never would've known what to check.
