Default Which console did Mario dominate???

Which console do you think that Mario dominated, as in, had the best selection of games. This is counting all spin offs and such that has Mario in it. I'm excluding the Virtual Console from the Wii (since there not new, and it's a current console), and Super Mario All Stars since most people would probably label the SNES with that in the picture.

Anyways, I have to go with the N64 since it had Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario which are on my top 10 list of all time. Also, I can't forget Mario Party and Mario Kart 64 which were some of my all time favorites for multiplayer, and last but not least, Super Smash Bros was amazing when it first came out. I just loved the N64 since it was the first 3D console I ever played, and it was just so original.

    What's your opinion, and why?

The SNES-Super Mario World, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, and most importantly Super Mario RPG.

Gotta give it to SNES for the same reason that atm55 said.

In terms of quality, it's definitely the SNES.

The NES is a close second in quality, but I'd give it the edge in terms of volume - there was SMB 1-3, and off the top of my head, Mario was also in Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Mario Bros., Wrecking Crew, Pinball, Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!, and NES Open Golf. Also, there was TONS of Mario merchandise available during the heyday of the NES.

    The SNES. No question.

Mario was probably the biggest star in the 16-bit era, altogether.

I'm surprised people are saying SNES. Mario seemed relatively absent on SNES.

I would also give the edge to the SNES, for the reasons listed above.

    CD-i... Mario represent!

Seriously, I say NES. Yes, Super Mario World is a great game, but SMB 1, 2 and 3 were more influencial altogether.

In terms of numbers, Mario was in 1/7th of the games on the Virtual Boy. Thats not bad!
Seriously, though, all the SNES Mario's were amazing. Not saying that the NES ones weren't, but there were more on the SNES.

I'd go with gamecube, for the simple reason that I never played a SNES mario...in fact I never owned a SNES and I still don't to this day. but the gamcube games were fun with all the sports games, or maybe the NES since those first 3 mario games were all that and a bag of chips back in the day.

I'd say N64, because on that system are most of the Mario games I couldn't live without

I would say SNES just because of Super Mario World and Mario Go Kart. Both games helped re-define both the series and games in general, they're also probably the games I've played the most on my SNES.

Close second (if not tied) would obviously be NES. It's what brought the franchise instant fame and two decades later things are still going strong for Mario and co.

I have to say he dominated NES the most. And I'm stunned that more people don't agree with this.

Most of the classic 2D Mario games debuted on that system, and I certainly played more Mario games on NES than any other system. And hell, Super Mario Bros. was the main reason I wanted a Nintendo to begin with.

Mario was huge all around during the 8-bit generation, but during the 16-bit era he was greatly over-shadowed in popularity by Sonic The Hedgehog and to a lesser extent, Donkey Kong Country. And Super Mario All-Stars was DQ'ed from being counted, which makes the SNES domination of this thread even more puzzling.
