    Default Charging Nintendo DS Overseas

I am currently in Russia and don't seem to be able to charge my ds using the regular ac adapter and an international plug in adapter. Do I need to buy something special, like a voltage converter or an international adapter specifically made for overseas outlets?

I checked my ds chargers and noticed that they are only for 100v and a quick google search shows russia runs on 220v. Chances are you'll need a converter to run it.

personally I pack something like this

All you need is an European charger, it will work fine with your US DS. I've got an Japanese DS and charge it with my European charger.

Also, if you plug in your US charger in a 220 outlet it will fry your system.

Actually, nothing happens - no charging, no frying. I have personal experience. (It is quite trivial to build overvoltage protection into these things, I'm told.)

If you have a laptop, you could just get a USB charger off ebay for 5$ or so. Works great, and it will save you carrying around the extra charger and adapter with you.

Some systems, apparently they didn't bother. I blew a GC power supply by simply plugging it in to a 240V socket. Not even tuning the system on, mind you.

It actually made an audible "pop!", too...

Get a converter, or a Euro charger, as the people above said. The Japan/US charger is exactly the same (using a 100V appliance in the 120V sockets in the US doesn't make a difference, except a bit of extra heat), and all of the chargers (Japan/US and European) output the same voltage and current.
