    Unhappy Saturn Swap Trick Woes....

I just got my first Saturn import, Virus.
A few days ago, I tested the swap trick with a back-up that I made of some golf game that was in the console when I bought it. The trick was a success, so I figured it would work fine with Japanese games. Boy, was I wrong!
The Saturn keeps checking the data ring TWICE, instead of just once as it does with a back-up. Therefore, it gives me the "unsupported disc" error.
So, I tried copying disc-1 of this game. It will NOT work even though my other back-up works!

Is there something to the swap trick when it comes to swapping with real games, or am I just doing something wrong?
My Saturn is a model 2, so I don't think that makes it any easier....
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

rip an image of it (bin/cue) then change the region of it to USA with a program called satheader (copy protection is separate from region protection on saturn)
then burn it and do the swap trick like normal

People say: the number of "checks of authenticity" depends on the game.

I've saw a guy saying that Andretti Racing makes a lot of checks and that guy played so much that he ends knowing every moment to make the swap.

    I don't know if it's true... =P

Is the region protection within the data ring on the outside of the disc?
Maybe I could get by this if possible.....

Have you ever tried swapping like this?
The thing is, evertime after it checks and I swap, it still checks.

I'd ditch the swap trick and get it modded... it's going to bum your saturn sooner or latter, sooner rather then later

    The region switch mod, right?
Do you know anyone on the forum that can perform this simple mod?
I would do it myself, but I fear that I make break the console.

Or you could just buy a Saturn Import Key/Ram Card, no?

I don't know much about modding a saturn since I really don't have a huge desire to play import games (since I really want to be able to read it all, needed or not). But I know there's a couple ways of doing it Apparently the model 2 (round buttons) is the easiest to mod chip, I think what frankie is sayin also is possible.

I've never tried but I've seen a couple dual memory card/ram carts that say they allow the use of imports as well.

Besides the Action Replay, does the ST-Key work good?
I do not know if it boots multi-disc games, though....

I believe that the ST-Key is fine unless you need the extra ram (most of the 2D Capcom fighters need it) that the Action Replay cards have built in.

If you're just playing import games the ST-Key should be fine.

If you want to play import games; go buy an Action Replay or the like. If you want to play backups; get your system chipped, buy a system disc or buy a modded system.
Disc swaps will kill your system fast and even if it doesn't it's really not worth messing with your system for.

    Coming from personal experiences..

Thanks, I'm going to go with one of those then.
I'll probably break down and get the Action Replay sooner or later, but an ST-Key is all I need for now.

I'm definately done with trying these swap tricks.
It gets boring after trying it for over an hour....

Well, an ST-Key is on it's way from NCSX. I won't have to worry about any problems.
It won't be here until later this week, though....

Anyway, did the guy ever get Japanese games to work with the trick?
