Default 4 player games on PS2 Dreamcast Style (HELP!)

So I still pull out my Dreamcast constantly for 4 player games. I have a PS2 with multitap but I can't find any games that compete with Dreamcasts library.

    Powerstone 2
    Chu Chu Rocket
    Gauntlet Legends
    San Fran Rush
    Bomberman
    Ooga Booga
    Gigaga Wing 2

Man the list goes on. Is there anything comparable to this? I dont mind a bit of Japanese to get thru.
    My System History in order of purchase: Coleco Vision - Master System - Genesis - Game Gear - Sega CD - 32X - Saturn - Nomad - PS1 - Dreamcast - PS2 - DS - PS3 (60GB) - PSP - 360.

That's because the Dreamcast library is incomparable and NOTHING can beat it!!!

But in all honesty the Dreamcast (and N64) are some of the best systems available for 4 player gaming. The sheer variety of solid and original multi player games make them a blast to play with friends.

It's very underrated but Out Trigger on the DC is an incredibly fun arcade style FPS and is pure mayhem with 4 players.

Also if you can get a copy of Propeller Arena!!! That game is the most fun multi player game I have ever played!!! To bad it was never officially released

As for PS2 though... I wish I could help you out but Dreamcast and N 64 are where it's at in my book.
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?

The lack of 4 controller ports on the PS2 was its only flaw.

in my mind right behind the n64 the dc is the second best 4 player system. Son'ys systems have never struck me as very multiplayer friendly.

I just bought one of those Buzz quiz game sets for my PS2 with the four-player buzzer controller. That's all I can think of right now. I think quiz games are always fun, even though you don't get the same kind of frenetic action you would with a game like Powerstone.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Don't the TimeStalkers games have a four player Vs mode?

A majority of the PS2 games that support more than 2 players do so in online play. As far as offline play goes, I'm surprised Kitsune didn't break out the ol' Mobygames link

Up to 3 Players (3 games)
Up to 4 Players (76 games)
Up to 5 Players (1 very awesome game)
Up to 6 Players (6 games)
Up to 7 Players (1 game)
Up to 8 Players (27 games)

Not all of them are # of players playing simultaneously, of course (you can't have a real time version of Wheel of Fortune unless you throw in an awesome fighting engine, afterall). But hey, they have 196 games listed as having online play, too. (almost as much as the entire US Dreamcast library)

No no, TimeStalkers was that crummy, disappointing Dreamcast game. TimeSplitters is the one you're thinking of! (and Mobygames doesn't have its 4 player support listed for whatever reason?)

edit - nevermind, found my problem

Up to 3 Players (Multitap) (9 Games)
Up to 4 Players (Multitap) (159 games)
Up to 5 Players (Multitap) (2 games)
Up to 6 Players (Multitap) (10 games)
Up to 8 Players (Multitap) (75 games)

..and don't forget the extremely few games that supported iLink, either. Man, that was a shame.

"Guilty Gear Isuka" would've made a great 4-player fighting game.... if it weren't for the absolutely awful control scheme!

Also worth trying is "Downhill Domination". Seriously, this game is fantastic and vastly underrated for some reason. The levels are insane (mountain-biking through lava, anybody?), you get to fight each other (with water bottles and sticks, among others).... and it's 4-player split-screen. Really, the only issue holding this back is the rather curious control scheme, but it is a minor thing.

I always forget about the tech specs links.

I can think of some good ones off the top of my head.

Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms
Bombastic? (or something like that) (up to 5p I think actually, IDR)
    Gauntlet Dark Legacy

Not as good as the Dreamcast but, it's far from devoid of good options.

Probably all but the EA and Konami ones (lord do they both suck at supporting online communities)? Certainly more than still work for the Dreamcast, at least

edit - you know who also sucks? Capcom.

Crash Team Racing(a PS1 game backwards compatible with the PS2) is a very fun multiplayer game for the the Playstation systems that can have up to 4 players simultaneously.

Another gauntlet game that's just awesome to play 4 player is Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows. Can play that for hours on end.
