Everyone seems to crap on the game but I loved it. Especially that flame thrower weapon and apocalypse landscape.

Robot, fight like a chicken!
Are you referring to the arcade machine or the NES cart?
This was posted in the Arcade section; not too hard to figure out.
And yes, my friends and I LOVED Victory Road back in the day. We were surprised by the speech at the beginning of the game. I can't remember if there was any more later in the game. My buddy did love that armor/sword combo.
Used to love the game as a kid. OP I worked for had one. I sold it to a guy. Then I found out the guy wanted to strip it out and turn it into a Mame cab. Made me sad, it was a dedicated unit.
Did you know you can move the guy in attract mode? Just press the joystick in one direction or another, you can get him to nudge just enough to keep him alive past the part where he usually dies.
I'd like to play the Ikari arcade games, but I don't have a rotary joystick.
Victory Road is the only Ikari Warriors title I've never seen in the arcade.
Never played the NES version, either, come to think about it....
Played the hell out the first two arcades. There's a joystick hack of Victory Road in MAME, but both games fail without the rotary control, same as Heavy Barrel and Time Soldiers. Ikari III is just sad no matter what the controls.
"Warriors! Show some GUTS! You can't escape me! Come GET ME if-you-can. HA-HA-HA-HA-HAH!!!"
That alone makes this rule. It's a long and brutal game that can get monotonous, but it's damn fun, perhaps even more so than the original Ikari Warriors.
The NES port just inexplicably blew, though. I'm sorry, but I consider it a kuso-ge. There's no way the developers meant any of that crap.
That's it! Next stop: The Junkyard. Population: You!
