Default Game Informer Cover Game Success Rate

I just read this very interesting article comparing the games that make the cover of Game Informer magazine and the scores they get and how well they do financially. While it doesn't mention financial returns of every game, it does a good job tackling it's GI rating and that of Metacritic:http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/...r-cover-curse/

Whats also fascinating about this article is that it briefly covers two other issues that have nagged gamers this year: the fate of Jeff Gerstmann and the reason for Ghostbusters hiatus. Overall, I was quite impressed.

Just so no one has to slog through the entire article, here is the last paragraph...

Overall though, minus a few glaring exceptions (”Superman Returns,” “Fear and Respect” and “Kane & Lynch”), it seems that most Game Informer cover games go on to do pretty well. GI shoppers need not beware, it seems.

A big article about nothing. From the first paragraph I almost panicked when they said Prototype was in "publishing limbo". It turns out it was just delayed to 2009...talk about hyperbole.

I'm not seeing how this is supposed to surprise people. It is interesting but I think most gamers could predict if a game will do well if they got to go to the developers office and see all of their ideas.

EDIT: Especially since the article considers 7s and above doing well (not saying that's a bad thing).

BTW, I subscribe to Game Informer and love it, it's the most unbiased gaming magazine I've found, minus this new September issue...
