    Default NES cartridge variation question.

So, I was looking at this cartridge, and it has two tabs at the top and three screws in the back, but they are flat-headed, not the normal security screws.

I have two games like this, both made by Nintendo (Hogan's Alley and Kung-Fu)

Was this a variation Nintendo made while they were developing their propriety bits or something?

hmm i have several hundred nes carts now im intrigued enough that i think i may just go home and check them out. best varient i found so far is a super mario cart with a slightly darker than normal label that weighs 30 grams more than an average cart. I'm hoping for a converter board but dont yet have an new screwdriver. btw that melt a pen tube into a screw to make a poormans proprietary screw driver.... yea doesn't really work that well the screw head tends to strip the "screwdriver" down before it can open a single screw. anyone had advice on a better material i could use to accomplish this.

Yeah, this one doesn't have a converter in it, it has to have five flat-head screws, no tabs at the top, off-center pins and weigh slightly more to have a converter in it.

Oh, I just bought an iron bit online.

Uh, I said no such thing. I simply misread the first post and what I was writing was irrlevant to the thread, kind of like your comment.

However in the years of opening NES cartridges I do recall coming across a few like those Tupin described.

IIRC (which i never do) those are the earlier games. The later ones came out with the other screws, i'd assume for security purposes.
