Any Ideas? The mad catz one is too flimsy and light. I periodically check ebay, but always seem to miss the good ones, which I assume you used to be able to buy at playasia or something.

I absolutely love the official Sega one. Bought it at launch with Virtua Fighter 3 and it still works fantastic despite years of abusing the hell out of it with the latest shmups.
Fuck Mad Katz, keep your eyes peeled and your wallet open for the official stick (which Agetec released in the US for some reason; I'm guessing because it was actually from ASCII and Sega simply released it in japan).

yeah an agetec stick is the way to go
Thanks guys. Now I just need to be patient.
yah the standard agetec one is just fine.
Another vote for the official Sega arcade stick, right here.
Not Happ that I'm aware of...closer to off the shelf Sanwa parts. Or Hori if you want to go that way.
Replacing the buttons and the stick isn't too hard, though they do require some dremel work on the inside. But even unmodded, the old "green goblin" is a damn good stick, and one that has served me well for nigh on 8 years.
Check out the Kleppings!

Yet another vote for the Agetec stick.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
They all suck ass (yes, even the Agetech).
1: Get Agetech
2: Rip stick out
3: Put in sanwa/seimitsu of your choice
4: Enjoy.

whats wrong with the agetec ? I've never had a problem with it :/ It's responsive, the stick is nice and clicky and has an angled octagon (or whatever shape it is) not a circle (what I like ;p) and the buttons work just perfect. It's nice and big and comfortable on your lap too :P

If you are a casual player then a standard Agetec stick is what you need to do the deed.
If you often feel an urge to put your red karate gi on and smash up cars with flaming fists of doom before you can have sweet dreams at night, then a modded Sanwa Agetec stick is your true homeboy.

The X-Arcade also has a dreamcast adapter, no?
Actually, it's square and not angled. That was my main problem with the Agetec stick when I first got it, but with a combination of the stick wearing in based on my play and my play wearing in based on the stick and the stick felt perfect to me after a few months.
ASCII later released the Capcom vs SNK sticks. Those had octagonal stick movement and they were also optical sticks, not microswitches. I've heard that their buttons weren't as responsive as the ones on the original green sticks, though.
...word is bondage...
I have one that has no visible markings, with orange buttons. Best stick I have ever used regardless of console.
