Really? I played Time Stalkers and all I got out of it was "Worst turn-based RPG ever". Not only were the dungeons not random, but the damage done wasn't either! I remember the first boss I fought, the action went thusly:

me: Attack

... 14 dmg

Boss: Attack

... 2 dmg

me: Attack

... 14 dmg

Boss: Attack

... 2 dmg

me: Attack

... 14 dmg

Boss: Attack

... 2 dmg

Lather rinse repeat. I couldn't believe the battle system wasn't randomized. Or if it was they did a terrible job of it.

If it is a Rogue-like and I missed it... I don't know if it's a particularly good one. Sad that it's technically in the Landstalker canon.

Well the dungeons are indeed random, you enter the dungeon at level 1, and return to level 1 when you exit the dungeon. You are limited to a certain number of items when entering a dungeon. I don't know if the games any good, but it certainly reminded me a lot of Azure Dreams when I tried it.

And to be fair, it's not really LandStalker canon so much as "fan service" for Climax's games in general as it also features characters from the Shining series and LadyStalker.

What about From the Abyss for the DS. It just came out, but it does have randomized dungeons and is pretty similiar to Diablo. I have been addicted to it for a while now, it's just a basic hack & slash but it has some cool features.

I absolutely LOVE Baroque. I drove 10 miles on release day to get a copy for Wii, and it was absolutely worth it.

Screw difficulty, the game has the best atmosphere I've seen in a game for a long time. A lot of people describe it as strange and poorly written, but the proper word is "surreal." Seriously, pick it up if you like bizarre, dream-like atmosphere.

I'm hoping that they remake and translate the side-games in the series, because the story is really interesting.
