I've heard it's very doubtful that there will ever be a full-speed Saturn emulator for the PSP but I'm still hoping. The last one I tried a few months back wouldn't run at all.
Is anyone working on this? Any news?

Um, I doubt the handheld could even handle it. Saturn emulation is just starting to blossom on PCs (SSF is just recently sporting 85% compatibility). Gonna be a bit longer before handheld systems are going to catch up to current mid range computers. At least, thats my reckoning.
I'd like very much to be proven wrong however.

I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility, the psp seems to be capable of prudinceing saturn quality visuals. I'm sure it's just a matter of time till somone figures out how to tweak the hardware and squeeze enought power out of it to emulate the saturn.

Indeed, the PSP is more than capable of producing above and beyond Saturn-quality visuals. The issue is if the PSP is actually up to running Saturn game code. A program trying to emulate 2 CPUs, 2 custom GPUs, an advanced sound chip, and loads of other little processors seems to be amazingly hard to write. Many of the Saturn's games barely push the hardware while others actually manage to utilize most of that damn silicone. A game that only utilizes one CPU and half of a GPU is naturally going to be able to run better on an emulator at a decent speed tas opposed to a game that really pushed the original hardware. I doubt I'll ever be able to play Shining Force III or Radiant Silversun on my PSP but I can always hope.
