My friend asked me to see if this Sega CD and model1 Genesis she had lying about with no cords would work. Since I finally have my own Sega CD, I have the AC adapter which apparently works on both Sega Genesis model 1 and the Sega CD. Sweet.
After hooking in headphones, the power cable, and (oh sacrilege!) an NES RF Modulator, I had a working Genesis model 1.
HOWEVER:
Her Sega CD was totally dead. I poked around on the internet, and found out there was a 0 Ohm resistor "fuse"; figuring this to be useless unless I plugged in the wrong cord, I cut it out and soldered some wire to test the system.
It worked!
My question, of course, is whether I can leave this piece of wire in there and not worry so long as she buys a proper power supply, or if I should find a replacement "fuse."
If I do need a replacement fuse, if someone could link one at mouser electronics or the like, that would be great-- I can't seem to find one that matches (2.5Amp, 0 Ohm, I think.)
Thanks a lot!
