Default What Bemani game did you start playing first?

It seems that DDR is a gateway Bemani, at least in the US. I want to confirm my theory. Heh. I started with DDR, then moved to Guitar Freaks and Drummania, then Beatmania, Pop'n Music, and IIDX. Para Para Paradise and Dance Maniax just kind of fell in there somewhere.

I actually played Guitar Freaks first at least a year or two ago (mainly because we had a machine at work), I 've had the DDR Disney Mix for my PSX for about 6 months...but I haven't played it much. I only had my first experience on an arcade DDR machine about 3 weeks ago.

You've got a Guitar Freaks at work? Either you work in an arcade, or you've got the coolest office job on Earth.

It was kind of funny when I first tried GF. I figured, oh it's kind of like Beatmania. I have to hit the buttons for the lines that come up. It took me a few seconds to figure out what the hell I was actually supposed to do. Heh.

I too started out with DDR, and I haven't gotten much chance to play much else. Just DDR and Guitar Freaks. I wish there was more where I am...

Actually neither...COSI in Columbus, science center.

And we don't have the machine anymore...sadly the newer games weren't making enough money, so they pulled all those out...left all the classic stuff, and made them all free to play. (And no JD, I still haven't asked about whether you need to pay admission to play them yet...I'm lazy / forgetful)

I actually started with Um Jammer Lammy on the Playstation 1. The DDR cabinets hadn't really been established over here at the time (and there aren't many where I live even now) so we had to make do with whatever we could get. I missed out on Parrapa the Rapper so I got Um Jammer Lammy. Great fun and got me into the Konami stuff.

I started out with Beatmania IIdx with a Konami controller at home in Japan. From there I went on to Guitar Freaks with a Konami controller, and then..........etc. etc.
