Default can I use my xbox 360 HD-DVD as an external cd-rom for a laptop?

    I just received a laptop without a cd-rom/dvd-rom.

Can I plug my xbox 360 HD-DVD rom into the usb 2.0 ports on the laptop? If so, can the xbox 360 HD-DVD rom read cd-roms? If so, can it read burned cd's?

I ask because I've got a valid and authentic Win XP Home cd-key (from my prior laptop) but I don't have a Win XP disc (just some recovery discs). I was going to download and burn a Win XP Home CD, then use my authentic serial to activate it.

Can I plug the xbox 360 HD-DVD rom into my new laptop, plop in the burned Win XP cd, and then install it from there?

As far as I know all you need is the correct drivers for it and it should work as a hd-dvd player on there.

Seems like when I tried it it would not work without drivers. I do not know where to get the drivers.

all hd-dvd drives are backwards compatible with dvd and cd media. assuming the drivers work, it shouldn't be a problem.
