Default Favorite Combat Simulations? (80's and today)

Back in the 80's I was a HUGE fan of 1st-person combat simulations:
    -Stealth Fighter (MicroProse)
-Silent Service (submarine attacks against Japan)
-Red Storm Rising (submarine war against Russia)
-Strike Fleet (naval cruise missile attacks against Iraq)
    -Elite (space trading/combat simulator)

    2 questions:
    (1) What are your favorite 1980's combat sims?
    (2) What are your favorite Modern combat sims?

    Troy

I used to play combat sims on my Apple II. One of which, I think, was named Surface Contact. You commanded a World War II era destroyer. Excellent scenarios on that one!

Now, I rely on Jane's for all my combat simulator needs. Ever play 688I? There are some REALLY good advantages of commanding the most advanced attack sub on the globe.
