DC Stick FTW!
I liked the controller because it was like a smaller version of the 3-D pad for Saturn.

Even though I hate the d-pad on it, the 360 controller is my selection. The Xbox controller S is a close 2nd, but I liked how they adjusted the button placement on the 360 for the white and black button to the shoulder area above the triggers.
I was always a big fan of PS2 analog controller. It just feels right.
General purpose: Dual Shock 3
Shooters: Xbox 360
I voted for Gamecube, second would have been Wii Classic. My least favorite on the list is the 360 controller.
I like the GameCube controller because it feels like it was built for human hands. The 360 (and original Xbox) controller feels like it was made for Gorrillas, the buttons feel stiff and cheap, and I hate the stick, my thumb slides off the end of it while playing, making me have to re-adjust, I thought the dots were supposed to prevent that. Same stick problems with the PS/2 controllers even though the 360 sticks are inverted versions. I like the new Nintendo design of having a ring, it keeps the thumb from sliding off.

For me:
#1. GameCube
#2. N64
The Dreamcast controller was decent, but it's the only one I've ever used where the wire comes out the bottom instead of the top. That always bothered me.
I was very suprised when I bought a Neo Geo CD recently. The directional pad with the microswitches really feels nice.
I had to vote "OTHER" and I am ashamed that you didn't include the Saturn analog controller. It's easily the best analog controller ever made. Sure, it didn't look that cool, but it was VERY intuitive.
First, it pioneered the analog shoulder triggers that the Dreamcast, Xbox, 360 and Gamecube went on to implement.
Second, it's the ONLY pack-in analog controller to retain a true 6 button arcade layout.
Third, it felt silky smooth because it didnt use a klaky analog "stick" and instead opted for the trackball esque analog ball. It was brilliant and I still wish the DC controller had inherited more of its features.
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?
To be honest, I can't believe the love for the anolog stick on the Gamecube. The fact that the stick is housed in that octagon shape limits your ability to smoothly turn the controller around 360 degrees. Anybody that's played NiIGHTS knows what I'm talking about.
My favorite has always been the Saturn pad.
The focus is on console analog controllers as a whole, not just the analog stick and Gamecube is absolutely the most comfotable bad ass design in a analog controller ever imo. Sometimes when i'm using it I forget I even have a controller in my hands at all.
Navigating the menus and fighting in Phantasy Star Online with both the sticks is nirvana and the positioning of the sticks makes it so natural. The sunk in triggers also just make sense to me and feel great.
It just all works as a whole, a very natural controller, you fingers usually always land where they are supposed to.
