3 days after the Japanese DSi release, and a 'Hello World' proof of concept emerges.

    Nice!

I am tired of Hello World though.

We as programmers need to pool together and think of something cooler.

Anybody that has gone to college for anything programming related can vouch that it gets old seeing what things you can force to output the words "Hello World".

It is very cool that they pulled it off though.

I didn't even realize there was any need to hack the DSi in the first place. I figured it was like the DS where you can just stick R4's in them and run anything you want.

Guess the DSi is totally different then, huh?

Everyone has been assuming it was going to be much harder to hack and run unauthorized code on it, but I don't think Nintendo ever said so.

So I'm unsure how they lost here, for all we know its just as easy to do stuff like this as before.

And if theres a internet browser, how do we know they didn't just set up a flash website running that and just went to it and ran the browser in full screen?

Well then it would depends on the website, because we all know how many security flaws are in ie.

Normally an R4 or other such device won't run on a DSi. This could involve a modded flash cart, an SD card or a combination of the two. But hey, at least something potentially works.

"It calm teh beef min" > "Hello World" ?

It's the new DS unit that released in Japan on 11/1. The re-done DS Lite no longer has a GBA slot (but has a SD memory card spot) for downloading games ect from the new DS Ware network. There is also a camera built in on the case, and I believe that it has some kind of music player as well. It's competition for the PSP in the non gaming format.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

not surprised, it's not too different from normal DS hardware, just another excuse for nintendo to squeeze more money out of the same damned hardware by giving it small upgrades that the system should have had in the first place.

Of course the system is going to be hacked. Hopefully it will be able to do more than the current R4 applications.
