nes power cord not working help!!

hi everyone!
im new here, and i love video games!
i recently picked up an nes (first version) at a thrift store, and it did not come with a power cord.
i actually found 2 universal ac/dc adaptors and i was wondering which one and what settings i could use to power up the nes? or is this not a good option ?
this is the specs of the adaptor number 1 i have
input:: 120v 60hz 7w
output::: 1.5 3 4.5 6 7.5 9 or 12 v dc
current ::: 300 mA
then there is a switch for either + or - polarity

adapter number 2 is like this

input ..... 110/220/ v 60/50 hz
output .... 1.5 3 4.5 6 7.5 9 12
power 9w
current dc 500mA max

then this switch says polarity and shows a
neg to poz
or a
poz to neg

ANY help would be awesome... i was really hoping to play tonight!!

I actually just bought like 4 of these off ebay just this evening for my SNES/Sega CD.

The NES one I have though, and it says on the top...

Output AC9V 1.3A

Both those ac adapters you have listed are too low on their amps. You need about 9V and at least about 800 mA. I don't think the NES cares about polarity. It does fine with either AC or DC current.

i was wondering if this might work as it has the 800 mA
it is an ac adpter specs are
input ac 110v 60 hz
output is dc 9v 800mA
then a poz to neg diagram on it.
again thank you for all of your help.. im sorry to keep asking about this i just REALLY want to play, and i am afraid of just pluging anything in because i don't want to fry it..

If you *really* don't want to risk anything at all, then get an adapter that outputs AC 9V 1.3 Amps, since that's what the official one is.

In my experience the one you have will work well. The NES doesn't seem to care if it gets AC or DC. 800 mA is a little lower than I would be comfortable giving heavy use over more than a year or so. Low amperage doesn't usually cause an instant problem, but will cause extra wear on components over time. You can't have too much amperage. The NES is pretty robust, though, which combined with being cheap and easy to replace is why I wouldn't have a problem using that adapter. For other systems you really want to be a lot more careful.

As long as the device only requires low amperage, they are generally fine. I've used them a lot for my son's v-smile and a 2600, since those take 300mA. I will grant they may be cheaply made and so may not provide a real even supply, but I've had good luck with mine so far.

You can use almost anything to power a NES. In fact, althought the official power supply is rated at 9V AC 1.3A the NES itself is rated at 9V AC 850mA (look in the sticker on the underside of the console). I've used power supplies as low as 6V 700mA and they do fine, even with both a controller and zapper connected (controllers draw power from the power supply too).

If you wan't some peace of mind use at least a 9V 850mA power supply. It doesn't matter if it's AC or DC or which polatiry it has. The NES will do fine with either.

As long as your electrical standard is 110V/120V then yes.
