I know you mentioned it, but some information.

Haunting Ground - The chick in the game was sort of helpless. A spiritual successor to Clock Tower all you could really do was run away and hide. The Dog however provided you with your only means of protection.

Thanks for the info. I've got that one next in my Gamefly queue. Sounds interesting.

Shadow Dancer was the first game I think of.

Shadow Dancer is a fine game on the Sega Genesis and the dog companion is very useful in being successful in this game.

Atari's Scrapyard Dog on the 7800 has you pretending to be Mario in a junkyard trying to save your dog. Between this and Ninja Golf the 7800 guys really were smoking strong stuff back then.

How about Twilight Princess? Link transforms into a wolf... And there's also Okami where you control a wolf. Sure they're not companions but the main characters, but it's still great to control a wolf within a game.

How about Duck Hunt? I know he laughs at you and everyone wishes you could shoot him, but he does find every duck you hit.

Does the dog from Duck Hunt have an official name? I saw someone on another site call him "The Asshole Dog," which fits him pretty good, but I wonder if Nintendo ever named him.
