Illuminati at work, folks.
Wait in 10 years an item can't go from 5 to 500?
In 1979 Wayne Gretzky's hockey card was valued at.... about a buck. 10 years later by 1989 it was going for about 1000x's that amount or more depending on exact condition. "collectibles" go up and down in price rapidly depending on a huge variety of factors. EB is currently a "hot ticket". Why people harp ON THIS ONE GAME is beyond me though. From both sides of it.
I have an idea. Every year I'll put aside $100 for a CIB copy of Earthbound. In 5 years I'll get it. By then the price will probably be lower and I can go spend half the money on Sega Saturn RPGs or something.
^^^ there is serious truth in this. I find it unlikely the games going to maintain it's current high pricing permanently and will fall in the 250-350 range for the "normal" complete copies. Patience is a virtue.
That's what I was, but it was more like "$50-$100 a month" rather than $100 a year.
It is ridiculous how greedy people get around this game. I mentioned elsewhere the seller who tried to jack the item price on me after the auction was over. I don't know if he's even gonna send me the item (but if he doesn't I can always get my money back).
Speaking of Earthbound, what should I pay for a cart only copy?
My first thought: who is the idiot that posted this question? Earthbound is one of the easiest games to value. Then I saw the age of the OP.
