OMG IF I MOVE MY COMPUTER WHILE IT'S RUNNING I CAN DAMAGE STUFF INSIDE!!!!!!!one one one!!
Seriously, stupid lawsuit.
That is true, the amount of money is silly, but it is a good smack in the face to microsoft so that they can spend the extra 50 cents to fix something.
dvd's cost what, about 10 a piece, that would mean that he put 5000 dvd's in there.
Uh, my 360 has only given 1 game laser burn, and that was rock band. How? 5000 dvd's? no way dude
Did you put the game in with sticks and a pooper scooper? You must have touched it to put it in - that voids your warranty!
I understand if discs are getting scratched through normal operation - but if you're doing it while the thing is running then you're just a dumbass. It's not a laptop drive where the disc is held in place.
I agree that fixing it is good. I still think it's a stupid lawsuit though
that's too much... 5000 dvd's?
laser burn happened to me but not as this much lol
the best things in life are those moments unexpected...
You'd think that Microsoft would put something in the 360's manaul about not tilting the console while a disc is in the drive. Oh, wait, they did.
You guys are all off your gord for calling it laser burn. At no point is the laser burning anything. Call it what it is, disc gouging. The laser lens is so close to the disc that as it spins the optical lens scratches the disc.
My first 360 damaged 5 games to unplayability before the drive shit out and at no point had it ever moved from its horozontal position that I placed it when when taken out of the box.
I can see the anger (I was pissed when CoD4, Halo3 and others stopped working), but as most of these lawsuits tend to be, they are over the top. Thats the only reason the news outlets pick them up. If I was suing MS for 250 bucks for those 5 damaged games, nothing would ever be said, the case wouldn't even go to court (and thats the other reason, under a few thousand, the case will stay in small claims, so go big or go nowhere).
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Yeah, the 360 disc drives are garbage. I've actually had the magnet in my DVD drive break off when I tried to eject a disc. The disc got pretty scratched up on the label side but it still works perfectly fine. After replacing it with Microsoft, they sent me another system that constantly gave me read errors. Neither DVD drive problem was covered under warranty.
