General PS3 Questions

So i'm buying a ps3 and I have a few questions before i do.

The model I plan to buy is the 60Gig

1: what's the most I should pay for this model? I was thinking $300-$350.

2: Does it play ps1 and ps2 games?

3: are load times for older games better on it? I remember stuff like chrono trigger ds and samurai showdown 3 having HORRIBLE load times on ps1 and even ps2 with the disc speed doubled.

4: Are the ps1, ps2, and ps3, playback abilities all region free?

5: ive heard that you shouldn't force any ps2 games into progressive scan for some reason. Something to do with the ps3 automatically puting games into progressive scan. Can someone elaborate on this?

MISC: anything else i should know?

I will try to answer your questions the best I can

1. You might have to pay more for a 60 GIG. They are still the most sought after, and they go from $300 to $400 on ebay not including shipping. The conditions vary, I would pay more and get one new one.

2. The 60 gig plays PS1 and PS2 games, you will have to set up virtual memory cards so that you can save on the systems.

3. The load times might be a little faster, but not by a ton, as I noticed some still long load times

4. The PS2 and PS1 games are region locked, I am sure on the PS2 games.

5. The PS2 games that I have you still have to manually do it. Tekken 5, and Sega Genesis Collection still have to put in manually.

6. The other things that you should know, is that hopefully you have an HDTV, and that you must purchase a HD cable for your system to be hooked up to have the great visuals the system is capable of. The 60 gig comes with one of the gimped controllers that is not dualshock, so I recommend spending the dough and getting one of those. Online play, I recommend getting a wireless headset. One thing that you should remember is that the purchase of any new game console costs alot more then just the system to start playing games. It all depends on what games you want to play and how you want to play them.
