Default Seller over-charging for shipping 2 sms games, can i do something ?

    Hi !!!

A few days ago i bidded on Ys : The Vanished Omens and Shinobi for SMS from this seller :

    Ys: The Vanished Omens

    Shinobi

I won both games at great prices 9.99 and 0.99 usd even if the seller did not guarantee that the games are working because he didn't have the system ....

I requested the total from the seller to my address in Mexico and he sent me an invoice for 46 usd for international priority mail ... in the auction he charged 22 usd for shipping a single game.

I asked if 46 was correct and if it was i asked if the shipping will be done by UPS or at least international express but he only answered : "I use USPS calculator and is usually right"

Then i asked to invoice me the shipping cost to a confirmed address i have in Houston, Texas and the answer was : 40 usd.

I decided to use the shipping calculator on the original listing and shipping to zip code 77034 was : 6.55 usd + 1.70 usd for insurance.

I paid 16.5 usd to ship the games separate and i got a message from the seller :

"well when I 1st billed you it was 24 and 22 for the games I never said I would combine the shipping for them
now you want them to go someplace else?
make it 30.oo total and I will send them tomorrow
    "

    What can i do ??

The first thing I'm going to ask is why you didn't calculate your shipping before the auction ended. Thats always a smart thing to do. Having said that, it definitely wouldn't cost him $40, $30 or even $20 to ship those games to you. As for what you can do, you can report the over-charge of shipping, but I'm not sure if you can do it until your item arrives. I could be wrong about that though. Other then that, try to reason with the seller one more time. If that doesn't work then I heard threats work surprisingly well, lol.

I only checked the cost to ship one game, it was 22 usd for a single game and i thought that he could charge 2 or even 5 usd to ship another one, it buy a lot on ebay (nihonseimx and neonihonseimx) and i had never trouble with that before.

    Report his ass to eBay.

    http://postcalc.usps.gov/IntlMailSer...2&P=2&O=0&sd=1

Hell, it would cost $30 to ship a two pound package via EMS. He's trying to scam you. Ask for your money back and report him. For once, the whole "sellers can't do a thing to buyers anymore" is actually worth having. :P

Also dude, wtf, 22 bucks for one game to Mexico? Shit, that guy's a major dumbass! It would cost like ten bucks AT MOST to ship one game via First Class (no tracking though). Priority International is a scam, it doesn't even have tracking, so I NEVER use it to send stuff anywhere. Stick to First Class or EMS instead.

You can't do anything. Reporting him won't work. Also shipping overcharging claim in paypal won't work as well. Paypal won't affect sell in this situation.
Appealing to his sense or threatening may help.
However you can also scam him as well. Such asshole deserve it. Pay his insane fees and then file "not recieved claim". And he's in shit.

    Report him for fee avoidance.

    Don't worry...you won't get a negative.

But leave him glorious negative feedback and 1's on all DSR's.

Don't send him the extra money. He is clearly trying to con you.

However you can also scam him as well. Such asshole deserve it. Pay his insane fees and then file "not recieved claim". And he's in shit.
I know it's silly, but how will that affect him?

    That's the problem.

The moment he tells the seller that he may do X negative thing (give negative feedback, file a chargeback, etc), some sellers are so intelligent that they think of it as a threat and report to Ebay.

I would recommend being very careful about what to say, but at the same time, be diligent.

    what is fee avoidance?
I thought that every seller can file a non-paying bidder and you can be suspended.
I know it's silly, but how will that affect him?
Well you can get the game and your money back without problems.
I did it only once and it is dishonest thing to do. But i had similar situation.
Some asshole charged me insane amount for shipping of 1 sega cd game.
In the end I paid for priority shipping about 24$ and the bastard sent it first class for 7$. When it has arrived i went completely mad and filed a non-recieved claim. And the bastard lost of cause. Simply because he sent it by first class thus tracking was impossible. What a stupid dude....His greed killed him.
I can absolutely pay more money for more safer shipping. But not a 3x price. I am not a millionare to pay for air.

    Unhappy

As i said before, i paid 6.55 usd shipping cost to Texas + 1.70 usd for insurace for every game, total 16.50 usd just for shipping and using the calculator on the product listing, after that i sent him a message :

Honestly, is too much trouble if i wanted the games shipped to my home in Texas to save a few dollars ?.

Don't you think is unreasonably to charge 40 usd within U.S. by USPS ? ... i was in New York the past week and i paid 9 usd for 2 sms games shipped by UPS on ebay (2 days).

I understand that you wanted more money for your games, but why don¡t you use reserve price ?

It's fine by me if you want to re list the games and give me my money back.

    Thanks a lot !

    His answer was :

    YES IT IS

can't he at least give a more clear answer ???

You just described fee avoidance. It's like this: You're charging $15 to ship something, and it only cost $7 - the remaining $8 are used to cover eBay's fees. It's a scam.

    Perfectly put.

Many sellers did this to cover fees and make an extra profit. I would hear "reasons" on why this was an ok practice...some sellers had the audacity to charge for "time spent" on mailing an item. One asshole charged extra to GET SNACKS while doing the "chore" (mailing an item).

Tell him to return your money and cancel the transaction so that he won't pay any fees. No, I am not siding with the seller, because once he does this, NEG THE ASSHOLE TO HELL. And make sure you give him his deserved 1's in DSR's. Hurt him plenty.

And to be nice, it would be nice if Lemarchand's box was real. You could send it to him as a gift...

After i asked: "yes it is" what ?, he answered :

    yes it is a problem
you have been a pain in the ass from the beginning
1st to mexico then to usa
if you dont read the whole ad and I have 5.00 handling you must pay that!!
I havent had one problem with my shipping yet
and the calculator has been right on
you brought 2 games the shipping was 22. and 24. dollars and you didnt want to pay so then you just pay me what you think you should pay
WTF is that? I have been fair with you I told you pay 3.00 more and you didnt BUT i'll still sent the games to you because I'm sick of dealing with you

He is complaining because i requested a second invoice with my U.S. address ...

oh .. and he is complaining that i paid 16.5 usd to ship those games to Texas and you should know better the real cost for this package.

BTW, i have read the listing again and i can't find the 5.00 usd handling he claims ...

Tell him to detail WHERE in his listing he mentions the $5 handling fee.

Also tell him that his hike in shipping is fee avoidance and that he could get severely reprimanded for inflating shipping costs to make a profit.

Tell him he is making more than enough pocketed money, since it will only cost like like $4 to send PARCEL POST. Also, demand delivery confirmation.

He is complaining because he cannot con money off you, or at least the expected amount.

Do know that perhaps the games may not work when it arrives... Yeah, he may be that much of an asshole...

Well, it depends. I usually charge a flat shipping fee that covers postage, delivery confirmation, and the cost of the bubble mailer. Some of us do ask for a bit more money, but not that much, and if it does go overboard, we give refunds.

But yeah, eskobar, do what megasdkirby says. Neg his ass. Eventually.

He listed the calculated shipping at 2 lbs which is where the $22.00 came from.

I would inform him in a polite way that there is a priority flat rate envelope that he can pick up at the post office which only costs $9.95 to Mexico and can fit 2 genesis/sms games. I have sent two like that before, they just fit.

Try to talk him into doing that. See if he will for $16.00, that seems plenty fair to me, with a $6.00 handling charge.

As for shipping to another address, you cant really fault a seller for refusing to do so as it voids the paypal protection.
