Default Hard to find CIB Gameboy Games?

From my understanding, the Gameboy isn't too popular with collectors due to the fact that it is difficult to find complete in box games. Despite this, I've still chosen to collect it, since the Gameboy has a lot of excellent titles and I'm okay with making boxes for them using DS game cases if I'm unable to find a game CIB. My question, however, is what games are the most difficult to find complete in box? I'm guessing that a lot of the first party Nintendo stuff is probably difficult to find, as well as Tetris, since it was a pack in title.

First party Nintendo games are among the easiest to find. Tetris isn't too tough either. Though it was initially a pack-in, it also got released on its own later in the system's life.

I think Amazing Tater, Spud's Adventure, and Toxic Crusaders are considered the toughest. There are a lot of others too. I don't think I've ever seen a copy of F1 Pole Position loose or otherwise.

Mr. Do? Never seen it even in loose form, but it's apparently super rare.

Gameboy collecting is great, because if you have enough time on your hands you can get a game like Mr. Do for like $5 bin because you never see it on ebay and people just don't know that there are worth.
    top price GB/GBC games are
    Mr Do
Mega Man V not rare but popular
    Stop That Roach
Harvest Moon 3 not rare but popular
    Metal Gear Solid

start with the games above sometimes you might find one at $5 bin if your lucky.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I just recently started collecting, so it's good to know what to look out for. Thankfully, I have a used game store near my house that actually keeps the GB/GBC games in their boxes when they're traded in, I found a near mint CIB copy of Ducktales 2 yesterday and got it for about $9 after tax.

I remember seeing Metal Gear Solid on clearance for $9.98 new around May of 2000 in a Wal-Mart. Wished I would have jumped on it then!

Or you could buy it new from Wisdom Tree for around $30, it's still in stock.

It's pretty much the only game still available from them in cartridge form, all of their previous games are still available for the PC.

I like the Gameboy and I also collect for it. It's difficult to find any games complete. I hardly even find Gameboy games for sale anymore, outside of game stores. I know in the states Gamestop still has games for sale, but EB games in Canada stopped carrying them many years ago.

    It's Game Boy.

Complete Game Boy game prices have been inching upward for the past couple years. I used to have a limit of $15 a game, and would more often than not come in far beneath that figure. Now it's getting harder to adhere to. There are a number of Game Boy collectors and some seem to have pretty deep pockets. Even common games can now go for over $20 when two or more collectors set their eyes on the same game.

That being said, there is nothing better looking than a shelf full of complete Game Boy games.

Not the King James bible, but The NIV Bible. There was a guy selling The King James Bible, Joshua, and Exodus on ebay a while back. Every week he'd have a new set of auctions up. They sold several times so he had a good number of them. They are out there, just takes time. Spiritual Warfare is hard to come by complete, but The NIV Bible is very hard. If you see one, BUY IT!

For me, it was quite tough to find Batman Animated Series CIB. I lost out once to a DP member, but I managed to get it again months later.

Another game I found hard to find was Sword of Hope (part 1) and Rolan's Curse (series). Still trying, though.

ask DreamTR or search the treads, he has a CIB Game Boy collection.

also, game boy games dont fit into ds cases, only gba does.

I think Original Gameboy games are the toughest to find cib. In my collection of 50+ (color and original) gameboy games I have 4 original gameboy games in the box: Rolan's Curse, Joust/Defender, Jeopardy! Sports Edition, and Championship Pool, which is sealed.

I've gotten to the point where if I see any original gameboy game in the box for less than $5, I'll buy it. They're that hard to find.

btw how hard is it to find Kirby's Dreamland in the box? I've never seen a complete copy.
Check my auctions here! I am in the business of finding off-beat things, including video game stuff!

kirby CIB is pretty easy to find. overall an easy game to find.

kirby's dreamland 2 is much tougher...

i think i have about 10-15 CIB Game Boy games, out of a collection of 100+

I feel like most original Game Boy games are difficult to find complete. Once upon a time I wanted my GB collection to purely consist of complete games, but alas, I did not have the funds or patience for it (too many great games, couldn't wait for complete copies to come along before I played them!), the recent GS purging of everything original GB also didn't help my little plan either. A respectable goal though for anyone dedicated enough to do it. It would be a beautiful collection indeed.

I guess if you collect European releases...I got the Japanese version for 200 Yen last time I was there.

EDIT: Here's my meager CIB GB collection...all except the abovementioned Picross were bought from a DP member for a great price!

I've always liked the Game Boy, but I guess it must have one of the largest and hardest to find collections if CIB is your thing. Has anyone managed to get a complete set? Although I appreciate a "complete" set can mean any number of things depending on who you talk to!
I'm having a huge games clearout - aprox 500 items

I try to get CIB titles whenever possible. Or I try to mix and match.

I may get the box and manual first if I see them on Ebay or somewhere else. Then after that, I get the cartridge.

Sometimes I see the game and box, but no manual. But if I do a search and see a seller offering the manual, I get them all at once.

Using the cover project, they show you how to convert DS cases to fit GB games. They also have alot of scans for Game Boy games that can be used for DS cases. It looks pretty nice for those with a good printer and some time. They only have a fraction of the Game Boy Games, but they do have some of the more popular titles. They also have it for GBC, and GBA so that you can have you game boy collection all in one type of case.
