Default Is it possible to remove corrupted data from a PS2 memory card?

On Sunday, I bought a first-party PS2 8mb memory card at a Goodwill, and I discovered that there is some corrupted data that can't be removed. Every time I try, it just leads to a "delete failed" message.

I have been able to delete other save files on the card and I have plenty of space left, but I'm wondering if it's possible to delete the corrupted file. I have no problem with removing all the saves on the card if necessary.

UPDATE: The corrupted file has been removed, and the other saves ended up getting deleted as well.

Perhaps try removing the card as you're trying to save something (which you're not supposed to do). It may work, it may not...but I've successfully erased a few battery back-ups that way.

I'm assuming you've tried to reformat the card already? The OP doesn't mention it.

I don't think the PS2's bios has a format function for memory cards.

Have you tried loading it on a PS3 - there might be a format function on there?

I don't have a PS3. I'm kind of hesitant about removing the card during a save as I don't want to risk permanently damaging the card. Didn't think of trying a cheat device though - I don't have any on hand, but I think I know a friend with one.

    Thanks for the help!
