No question - I'd get the Dreamcast and jump on it fast. I figure I'll be able to find N64s much more easily whenever I want. I'll probably be able to find a working N64 20 years from now, assuming nobody blows all our asses up here on Planet Earth between then and now.

The Dreamcast, otoh, has an enormous selection of terrific games, and is much, much harder to find. Additionally, having a CD-drive instead of being cartridge based means it has moving parts, which will fail sooner or later. If I did find one 20 years from now it's highly unlikely it will still work.

    Presuming I didn't already have both, it's a no-brainer.

The DC, plain and simple. 'Nuff said.

Even though I can get an N64 for $30, I'll bite. I'd say an N64. I can sense your shudders. The Dreamcast was a pretty cool machine, but for me it only had a handful of games that held my interest. The N64 however...that machine really defined what the words Next Generation meant. Great graphics (for the time), four player built in, a very sensitive analog stick, and a controller that seemed to meld into my hand to become an instrument of digital death. Many of the games I have played (and still own) I go back to quite often whereas the Dreamcast just sat and collected dust. For one thing I am big into platformers, console FPS, and wrestling games and the 64 has this in spades compared to the Dreamcast. The controllers on the DC also felt a bit cheap and were rather large from my hands (dang Carnie heritage-no I don't smell like cabbage). The buttons also wore out a lot faster than the N64's (mainly due to Tony Hawk).

That's my 2 zenny on this.

I said neither. N64's are cheap cheap cheap! I got mine for $15. $50 seems like a lot. It's a lot for a Dreamcast too.

ColecoVision Bejeweled. It's supposed to be every bit as good as the on-line version. The owner of the local second-hand store was astonished to hear that cartridge versions are actually being made for the old console!

N64. The DC is totally a better system, but it doesn't have those things known as Asmik/AKI wrestling games.
    Yeah, that's right... WORD!

It seems very funny to me that this topic died like a month ago, but now since the board crashed it's back! I guess it's just soo funny to me how fast we forget something....after a month it sure seems new again!

Dreamcast is much better the graphics are much better and the sound it great. There are not as many games but they are much better overall N64 has it few hits but not over all that good. If u are a sports fan then dreamcast is for u NFL2k2 is the best football game out and NBA 2k2 is great. sonic and sonic 2 are real fun games and there are far more RPG for dreamcast and u can play online. dreamcasts unreal tor. and quake 3 are great multiplayer but are still better one the comp. N64 games cost more then DC but if u like more of a cartoon like game (nothin wrong with them I play them all the time.) then N64 might be 4 u super mario, mario kart, mariop smash bro, ditty kong racing, donkey kong 64, and the mario party are all great games. Then there is goldeneye and other 007 game are great 4 player games.

    N64 IS WHAT I BOUGHT.

Why? Because most of the Dreamcast games are getting ported to the PS2. Plus, I wanted to play Mario64 and Paper Mario on the N64. So, that's what I got.
