Default Yobo FC3 Button Mapping Fix (NES only)

I was very irritated with the backward buttons problem with the FC 3 so I decided to see what I could do about it.

Unfortunately there is no easy fix for the SNES problem but you can fix the problem with the Regular NES games Very simply and It won't affect the other systems buttons.

Simply open your controller and look at the circuit board. you should see a row of 6 diodes on it. Look for the second diode from the right. (I have circled it in yellow).

    like this:

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/atta...1&d=1231789464

    Simply remove this diode.

It should look like this after your done:

At this point the 'C' Button becomes another 'A' Button. so you have the ability to play using the 'A' Or 'C' Buttons as a NES 'A' button. Of course the 'B' Button remains the same. This change will not affect how other systems play on the FC3. (Genesis or SNES) It only affects NES games.

Very cool! You're 100% sure nothing else is changed? SNES and Genesis still work ok?

I haven't experienced any problems with SNES or GENESIS. as far as I can Figure, The Diode just makes a connection for the NES to have an A+B combo in button 'C'. removing the Diode makes the 'C' just another 'A' Button.

Ahh I get it, you just hold the controller over the side a little. Cool, I'll try this out!

The 9 pin connectors aren't the same pinout as a Sega controller, are they?

Have you tried any games such as street fighter that may require the 6-button layout without any problems with this mod?....

Do you need to de-solder it or can you just snip it off?

Either would work, but the latter would mean no going back!

I hate to necrobump such an old topic, but I figured it'd be a bit of a waste to make a new one when the issues are so similiar..

I have a GEN-X, which has the _exact same issue_ with the NES mode, so when I saw this fix I became rather enthusiastic.

The problem is that while theoretically the same fix should apply, they still are two different systems with two different controllers.. As I suspected when I opened my controller, the arrangement is different enough to where I have no idea which diode might be the correct one. (And I certainly don't have the soldering skills to reliably experiment with disconnecting things at random.)

So thus, my question is, has anyone preformed similiar corrective surgery on their GEN-X controllers, or would at least have good knowledge of how one might do it? I can't make heads or tails of this arrangement at all.

Sorry about the quality, but I only have my laptop's built-in webcam for any photos I need.

I occasionally get asked if I know of any adapters that will allow you to use your SNES controller on the FC3. Well at one point in time I considered making them, but I found that the cost and time to make one adapter would not be practical for the majority of FC3 owners. So here is a list a materials and wiring instructions to make your own. This information assumes you have or know someone with a beginners ability to splice wires.

    Materials:

Please note the wire colors for SNES extension cable are only for Hyperkin/Retro-bit SNES Controller Extension Cables. Official or other third party cables may have different wire colors.

The black and green wires on both the FC3 and SNES Extension cable are not needed. Personally I just cut them out completely.
