Jeleco Holdings was the company that owned the subsidiary Jaleco. They Sold Jaleco to GAME YAROU, an online game company.

Jaleco was struggling for years.

I know Jaleco also was working on Kizuna for the Wii.

Kizuna was one the more promising games for the Wii in 2009 according to http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2811 .

I don't know how they lasted this long before selling .

The question is now if GAME YAROU will allow the subsidiary Jaleco to finished up the games they were working on.

Jaleco made the PS1 Speed Racer game(or published it). The game wasn't great but it was fun and by far the best Speed Racer game I have ever played.

Wikipedia says the name Jaleco was derived from shortening their original name - Japan Leisure Corporation. Well what do you know, I learn something new everyday.
The first thing I thought of when heard Jaleco was The Game Tengoku! It came out on the Saturn and was sort of a shoot-em up parody of all the characters from it's arcade games. It comes with a VHS tape with a short anime film if you get the Gokuraku Pack version. I enjoyed that game very much, but I still had this nagging feeling that I associated the name Jaleco with some pretty crappy efforts. So I looked around here for anything I had that was developed or published by Jaleco and came up with this...

WOW! Perhaps it was Pulse Racer that left a bad impression with me, if not Argus, Irritating Stick, Lowrider, Night Caster or Room Zoom. I haven't tried Carrier yet, which sort of surprises me because I'm into survival horror. I think I may have heard unflattering things about it. I kind of had my hopes up playing Speed Racer that I would be able to slice up cars with that giant deployable buzz saw. That frackin thing don’t do shit! And I thought their port of Choplifter made an already tough to beat game even tougher! YIKES!
Do appreciate bringing over R-Type III and I liked Operation Logic Bomb and Cheesy too. I’ve been meaning to get around to playing Juggernaut, Vanark and Beltlogger 9. They look like something I might enjoy. I don't play beat-em ups very often, but isn't Shatterhand something of a cult favorite?

It's actually a pretty good game and has pretty good feedback from what I recalled. It's by far the best survival horror for Dreamcast (which there aren't many of to begin with) and is well worth the purchase for any fan of the genre. I got it off e-bay a year ago or so and found it very enjoyable, still need to go back and finish it tho.

Of that list I can only comment on Speed Racer, Tetris Plus and Vampire Hunter D. None were great but they were ok.

Shattehand was natsume jaleco just publish the game.Still it's a shame jaleco has gone down.Still,that has been the case as of late for any small jpn developer.Either it go's out of business or is bought out.

Jaleco's Bases Loaded games might not have been the "best" baseball series on the market but it was pretty good for the most part and the company supported it for a long time, from the 8-bit days up until the 32-bit era.

I forgot about the Bases Loaded games(it doesn't help that they aren't on the list). Those three games(the Nes ones) were some of the most fun I've ever had with sports games.

While I'm sure that list wasn't meant to be 100%, I still don't understand how it is missing all 10 Bases Loaded games (or 11 if you include the arcade version).

4 from the NES, 3 from the SNES, one from the Gameboy and 1 each from PS1/Saturn.

That is a pretty good run right up there with the RBI Baseball and Tecmo Bowl games.

To me, it is all the more impressive the series survived that long considering that Jaleco used fake players and fake teams in most of the Bases Loaded games. This back in an era when RBI Baseball had real players.

But the NES Bases Loaded games did have a much better (and more realistic) pitching interface than RBI Baseball or any other baseball game from that era really. The batting was also more realistic, you had to really watch where the ball was going and it kept scores down (more realistic).

Jaleco made some memorable games. Games I enjoy the most - Fortified Zone for Gameboy & Rushing Beat Shura for Super Famicom.
