W00t, maybe another variant for DB!
zomg I have a sig
No they don't work.
As long as the back isn't some obvious silver, it's very unlikely to be a bootleg.

I suppose it could be a misprint. I know they used blue discs for PS2 CD based games but I've never seen it on PS1. Then again there have been stranger things, like every single copy of Strider 2 having disc 1 and disc 2 mislabeled. Personally I've had a customer come back after buying Bioshock to show me a completely blank disc with no label at all, but he said the game played fine so he didn't mind.
i'm thinking maybe a factory fault? maybe they were running low on the black ink for the plastic? it isnt the same blue as the ps2 discs, theyre much darker and more vibrant blue.
i have some bootlegs, theyre all fairly obviously bootlegged and dont work in an unmodded console. i also think if it was a variation then all the discs would be like that, not just disc 1
Maybe a press-release/review copy. I'm not a PSX expert by any means, but if this runs natively then it was at least a sony approved disc. But why only disc 1?
My thoughts were review copy/demo/internal copy? It seems odd that's for sure.

Holy crap. It's been a while.
Was this game bought used? If so, there is a chance that all 3 discs where blue, and some where allong the line, the discs got mixed up and you only ended up with 1 blue disc. You should go back and conntact the seller who sold this, perhaps he has the other 2 blues.
I have had a few of the Blue backed games come in also on FF tactics and a few other games. I have never thought they were fake.

Guys, guys, guys...
*phew*
How did I miss this thread...
It's a 100% legit copy of the game. All that happened is the disc's coloring didn't settle correctly. I have 3 different PSone games that have that blue-ish aspect rather than black.
You can confirm it's a legit disc by the hidden PSRM #info that is visible on the underside of the disc. If you look at the bottom disc image, and start from his index finger in towards the center, you'll see the backwards -0064?? and the barcode across from it, on the inner rim. These are Printer Markers when the discs are made. All PSX games have this; you just can't normally see it unless it has a "clear" artwork on the top, since the disc bottom is usually solid black. The dye was probably running low in the presser.
All is fine with the world. May you carry on with #41.

You should count those as variants Jason.
But they wern't intended that way, those are just factory goofs. The boy has enough variants thanks to me already. We don't need to start the find the 'unsettled' discs PlayStation collection.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Don't all PS1 discs have a slight bluish/purplish tint to them if you look at them from the right angle under a bright light?
Probably just a case of the black dye not being a true black, though.
The blue-ish color isnt all that rare. I have seen several of them. I would say around 1-200ish.
