ok i've seen this game on gamestops website for a while for $60 for the xbox which seems to be about the cheapest price compared to amazon and ebay. anyway, i've never ordered a game through gamestops website.

I'm just curious if i buy the game online through gamestop.com do you guys think its a good chance i'll end up with a generic case with no manual. i'm really wanting a complete minty copy but i dont expect to get that from their website.

if any of you have it for the DC or xbox and want to get rid of it at a not so expensive price please let me know.

If you really want it complete, dont count on them sending you a complete one.
I think their general policy is you are buying the game disc and since its 'used' condition or completeness is not an issue.
Also, have you ever bought a game from them in the store? Its like almost impossible for them to pull a minty or near-minty game from the drawer of thousands of games they have at each location; let alone run into a gamestop employee who wont give you additude when you ask to check out the disc surface. I bought metal gear for xbox last night for 5$ at gamestop and of course it has quite a few scratches. And the employee who sold it to me rolled my eyes when I asked them if they had another copy...
Then I spent 15 minutes peeling stickers off the case when I got it home.

When I got my opened copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on Xbox a few years ago at Gamestop, the case and manual were mint. Back then it was only $49.99 and I had an edge card for a further discount. Of course, the disc had mad scratches. But it works fine so it's all good.

As for you buying it online, if it's imcomplete(missing a manual or genric case) you can always take it back within 7 days(just like the Ring). Gamestop doesn't advertise this policy but "ALL" used games can be returned within 7 days for a full refund. Better than renting at Blockbusters.

I wouldn't bet on it having a case,manual,etc due to the fact they state it in the listing.
What I would 1st do is use their search (Store Availability) and see if one in your area has it. If so call 1st and ask them does it have a box,manual,etc depending on the store they might or might not answer honestly.

I could I HIGHLY recommend looking for a Gamecrazy in your area, and do what they call a "Special Order". You have to leave a $6.00 or less "Special Order" fee. Also with them you have to pay an additional what ever they charge. I HIGHLY recommend this due to they helped me find a game that was selling for $50.00+ on ebay, and only charged me $10.00 Special Order fee included. On top of that the game was 100% MINT & Complete.
Also but If they cannot find it (game) they refund the money the special order fee.

I think what upsets me is the fact that the game isn't even that great of a fighting game in itself o_O

But I do understand it's price because of rarity, etc

I worked @ Gamecrazy when they first started the special order "program"- before that, they used to do this for customers for free.

There is a *huge* list of titles you can't special order, MVC2 is one of them. Anything that's worth reselling is going to be on the list, it's a good suggestion for lesser known titles though.

Yeah, it recently was added to the ESRB for 360 and PS3, so you might just want to hold out.

Well Dragon Ball GT on the PS1 used to go for $200 used and it is perhaps the worst fighting game on that system. But it was definitely a supply and demand thing with that game....and a rarity thing. This game isn't as rare but it does have the supply and demand thing going for it.

thats becuase there was a second printing like 2 years after it came out that dropped the price.

I've always wondered why people liked MvC2. I don't see the big fuss partly because it lacks a lot of balance in my opinion.

Actually, the second printing didn't come out until 2004, a full seven years after the original was released in 1997. From 1999-2003 Dragon Ball GT was one of the most sought after games in history. It didn't help that only 10,000 copies were made and that during the Toonami run of Dragon Ball Z millions of fans(myself included) became addicted to the show. I got my copy before the second print occured but I only paid about $50 for it, which coincidentally is the exact price I paid for my Xbox version of MvC 2.

i would not take the risk, keep checking on gamestops website to see if it becomes available at a store near you
