    Default February 2009 Finds

After a great day yesterday, I get to start of this month with some good stuff, too!

Fat PS2 w/ network adapter, 2 cont, cables, mem card, remote. I get the distinct impression that this wasn't used much. It was being sold because the petite Asian woman no longer had a TV. She said she used it mostly for DVDs.
    $55 off CL.

From a thrift. Depeche Mode The singles is the blue one. Everything is pretty much mint, and the SW game is sealed. Grand total = $12.35

My wife just told me she's not real thrilled with me being a 'middle-man'. Considering I've built a 1500++ game collection in a couple years and made about 4 grand in the process, I don't see myself stopping. That, and I'm addicted to the hunt.

$2 each at the local Peddler's Mall. Also picked up a couple of interesting hand carved statuettes for my game room for $3 each:

Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Meh... I've made finds on Christmas.

...it was unintentional, though. On Christmas Day in 2005, I was working on the other side of town because nobody else wanted to take the assignment. Since there was a music/movies store across the street that was open every day of the year and I had a long break, I checked it out (I would have also considered looking around at GameCrazy if there had been one nearby, since they're also open 365 days a year).
I spotted a small section with PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and PS1 games - it turns out that the store had recently started taking in video games for those systems. There wasn't much to choose from, but I got two PS1 games: Crash Bandicoot (complete, GH) for $2.50, and Test Drive Off-Road (disc only) for free - it was in a Test Drive 4 case and they were just going to throw it into the free box anyways (a few days later, I bought a disc only TD4 at an EB).

American Football sucks, go watch soccer instead. :P

    *ducks*

I'm spending the day cataloging my music collection and ripping a ton of albums now that my DVD drive is on its last legs. Might as well wear it out until it finally chokes and dies.

I have a stack of six HD's in my game room that have crashed on me over the years. I've salvaged most of the crap on'em with File Scavenger, but there are some vids and stuff I lost that I kinda miss... It's never fun losing a storage drive.

I feel for ya, man. I've only had one hard drive crap out on me, an old 8 GB drive that came with my first computer (which I bought in 1999!).

These days I rip a CD, then I back it up to DVD-R just in case. You never know.

Nice find for the Dark Forces 2 game. Thats the only one from the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games that never got a console release. So I have never got to play it but I've always been interested in it.

That's a heck of a good deal! I got one w/o the box on CL for $70 including four games but only two games didn't get an NA release and one of those DID get a EU release. XD Ah well, still, not a bad deal for a JP PS2.

Today I got an AC adaptor in the mail, which helped confirm that the boxed Sega CD I found last month for $12 works. Hooray!

Then I went thrift hunting and found a loose SNES console for $5 and a OEM Sega Saturn controller for $0.25. Good stuff, if I do say so.

Mass Effect Limited Edition guide with artbook
    Mass Effect normal guide
    Lost Odyssey guide

three pennies. out of all the guides I was looking for this is all I ended up with. I can't complain because those were my two top picks, but the Best Buy I went to had about 15 guides I wanted yesterday. I should have hid more of them (I only hid the one Mass Effect)!

I bought a dusty loose fat PS2 (scph-30001 r) today at Goodwill for 10 bucks, but of course it doesn't work. Powers up, has picture and sound, tray opens and closes but discs never spin. Gonna return it unless you guys can suggest an obvious or easy fix for it.

    In the mail today:

    virtual boy (boxed)
    AC adapter (boxed)
    Golf (boxed/complete)
    red alarm (demo version)
    Jack Bros W/instructions (US version)

Everything works. All for 100 on ebay. Not sure if it was a good deal or not, but I didn't have a virtual boy and figured this would be a nice lot to start a collection on.
    wooooooosh
